  • Publication number: 20120239158
Abstract: An orthopaedic knee prosthesis includes a tibial bearing and a femoral component configured to articulate with the tibial bearing. The femoral component includes a condyle surface curved in the sagittal plane. The radius of curvature of the condyle surface decreases gradually between early-flexion and mid-flexion. Additionally, in some embodiments, the radius of curvature may be increased during mid-flexion.

  • Patent number: 8187335
Abstract: An orthopaedic knee prosthesis includes a tibial bearing and a femoral component configured to articulate with the tibial bearing. The femoral component includes a posterior cam configured to contact a spine of the tibial bearing and a condyle surface curved in the sagittal plane. The radius of curvature of the condyle surface decreases gradually between early-flexion and mid-flexion. Additionally, in some embodiments, the radius of curvature of the condyle surface may be increased during mid-flexion.

  • Publication number: 20120078254
Abstract: A customized patient-specific orthopaedic surgical system including a first surgical block, a second surgical block, and a computer-controlled milling machine. The first surgical block includes a first bone-facing surface having a first customized patient-specific negative contour to receive a first corresponding contour of a bone of a patient and a first mounting surface. The second surgical block includes a second bone-facing surface having a second customized patient-specific negative contour to receive a second corresponding contour of the bone of the patient and a second mounting surface to be separately mated with the first mounting surface. The computer-controlled milling machine includes a third mounting surface to be separately mated with the first mounting surface of the first surgical block.

  • Patent number: 8075629
Abstract: An orthopaedic prosthesis includes a curved outer surface configured to abut a patient's bone when the orthopaedic prosthesis is implanted therein. The outer surface may or may not be electrically conductive. A channel is defined in the outer surface and extends from a rim of the outer surface to a location on the outer surface. One or more electrical conductors is positioned in the channel and extends outwardly from the channel at the rim of the outer surface. A switch is positioned at the first location and is configured to establish an electrical connection between the electrical conductor and the outer surface and/or another electrical conductor when the first location of the outer surface contacts the patient's bone. The switch may be embodied as an end of the electrical conductor or a more complex switch such as a push-button type switch.
