  • Patent number: 6032941
Abstract: A sheet material conveying apparatus has a conveying path for directing sheet materials supported on a supporting portion one by one to an image processing position and also directing them to a discharging portion after the completion of image processing, and a reversing path for containing a predetermined number of sheet materials therein, and reversing the sheet materials and directing them to the image processing position. When the interval between the predetermined number of sheet materials to be directed into the reversing path widens to such an extent that the sheet materials cannot be contained in the reversing path, preceding one of the sheet materials is decelerated or stopped in conformity with the widening to enable the predetermined number of sheets to be contained in the reversing path.

  • Patent number: 5913094
Abstract: A developing device includes a developing sleeve for carrying a magnetic developer, a regulating sleeve for regulating the thickness of the layer of the developer on the developing sleeve, magnets for generating a magnetic field in a layer-thickness regulating portion by the regulating sleeve, and magnetic members provided so as to have a small gap between the circumferences of the developing sleeve and the regulating sleeve. Leakage of the developer from end portions is prevented by forming a magnetic seal by way of a magnetic field between each of the magnetic members, and between the regulating sleeve and the developing sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5842962
Abstract: It is an object of this invention to provide a cylindrical body manufacturing method capable of setting a high coaxiality and a high run-out accuracy between a cylindrical member and a flange member. To achieve this object, in a cylindrical body manufacturing method according to this invention, the diameter of an end portion of a sleeve is increased by heating the end portion. A flange held at the end of a robot hand is clearance-fitted in an inner-diameter processed hole in the end portion of the sleeve while the central axis of the flange is aligned with that of the sleeve. The flange is then pushed to make the outer periphery of the flange abut against the end face of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5608512
Abstract: A fixing device has a fixing member for conveying a recording medium while holding the recording medium thereon, and fixing an image on the recording medium, a separating member having a pivot shaft and urged against the surface of the fixing member, and a guide member provided downstream of the separating member with respect to the direction of movement of the recording medium for guiding the recording medium. The separating member is of such a shape that the portion thereof from the leading end of the recording medium to an imaginary line substantially perpendicular to the direction of movement of the recording medium and passing through the pivot shaft is along the direction of conveyance of the recording medium, and the portion thereof which is downstream of the imaginary line with respect to the direction of movement of the recording medium gradually becomes far from the movement path of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5512993
Abstract: Disclosed is an image heating device for a fixing device in image forming apparatus. The image heating device is provided with two heaters and an image fixing roller. The image fixing roller is heated by the two heaters, one having the heat distribution in the center and the other having the heat distribution in the end portion of the fixing roller. The heaters are alternately energized so that the power requirement is maintained limited. The energization time ratio of the heaters is suitably varied according to the sheet size in order to compensate the temperature loss in the end portions when the heating is conducted in the central portion only, or to reduce the temperature rise in the end portions, encountered when narrow sheets are consecutively passed, thereby preventing various drawbacks resulting from uneven temperature distribution on the fixing roller.
