  • Patent number: 8275860
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for maintaining access point names (APNs) at a centralized location for distribution to gateway nodes are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for maintaining service profile information includes receiving the service profile information from a server arrangement that is substantially external to a node. The server arrangement and the node are associated with a network that supports a general packet radio service (GPRS) protocol. The method also includes storing the service profile information in a memory of the node.

  • Patent number: 8200840
Abstract: A system and method for providing a rule based engine in a routing operating system. The system includes a set of predefined events, a set of predefined conditions and a set of predefined actions. An operator of an operating system may generate a new rule by selecting one of the predefined events, a predefined condition to be tested and an action to perform in response to an outcome of the test of the condition. The rule is then stored in memory by a router operating system and is performed when the predefined event occurs.

Date of Patent: June 12, 2012
    Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Amir Hassan Maleki, Neil McGill, Saikrishnan Gopalakrishnan, Nachiket J. Deshpande, Anirban Roy
  • Patent number: 8086737
Abstract: A system for detecting and correcting an error in session between a client and a host over a network. When the system receives an indication of an error in a session, the system determines an error correction modification to the configuration of the session to correct the error. The system then implements the error correction modification to the configuration of the session and continues the session.

  • Patent number: 7228132
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for dynamically updating service profiles in a network system. A device, such as an edge device providing network services to subscribers, is configured to dynamically update profiles for services provided to subscribers with no downtime required. Devices may be configured in accordance with this disclosure to receive a request by a first subscriber to access a network service having an associated service profile. The device may then cache the current version of the service profile into memory. Upon receiving a request from a second subscriber to access the same network service, the device may then determine whether a newer version of the service profile exists. If a newer version exists, then the device may then associate the newer version of the service profile to the second subscriber's session. Older versions may be purged as they are no longer used.
