  • Patent number: 7462153
Abstract: A method and system for modeling cardiovascular disease using a probability regression model is provided. A parameter estimate of a probability regression model for cardiovascular disease can be generated using predictors derived from cardiovascular sound signals and disease status information. A probability of cardiovascular disease can be generated using a probability regression model that includes a predictor derived from cardiovascular sound signals.

  • Patent number: 7416531
Abstract: A system and method for detecting and processing physiological sounds. The method includes sensing physiological sounds to acquire analog physiological signals, where the acquired analog physiological signals corresponding to basic heart sounds and sounds of interest. A predetermined frequency range of the acquired analog physiological signals that encompasses the sounds of interest are amplified, where at least a portion of the predetermined frequency range is higher than another frequency range of the acquired analog physiological signals that encompasses the basic heart sounds.

  • Publication number: 20030120159
Abstract: An apparatus, operation and method for measurement of systemic and/or pulmonic blood pressure. The present invention offers a passive non-invasive method and system that can be used where measurement of systemic pressure with a traditional blood pressure cuff is contraindicated. The present invention also affords a means for early diagnosis and opportunity for intervention in patients with no symptoms or signs of elevated pulmonary blood pressure that can be performed as part of a routine physical exam. The present invention accomplishes this non-invasive measurement through detection, identification and characterization of the second heart sound acoustic signature associated with heart valve closure. An apparatus for measuring systemic and/or pulmonic blood pressure in accordance with the present invention includes a sensor assembly comprising a housing, an electronic module, a shock dampener, a mounting means, a transducer, an acoustic coupling and a back cover.

  • Patent number: 4116073
Abstract: A balancing system for balancing an object mounted thereon in a predetermined plane. The balancing system includes a laser mechanism for producing a coherent first beam of visible electromagnetic radiation in a substantially vertical direction line. A beam splitting member inclinable with respect to the vertical direction line upon imbalance of an object mounted on the balancing system intercepts the first beam of coherent light emitted from the laser. The beam splitting member is adapted to pass the first beam of light external to the balancing system and to reflect a portion of the first beam of light into a second coherent beam of light due to reflected passage within the beam splitting member when the member is inclined with respect to the vertical direction. The first and second beams of light intercept a target area remote from the balancing system and provide a pair of displaced visible light points determining the unbalance of the object mounted on the balancing system.
