  • Patent number: 11424773
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a low complexity transmitter structure for active antenna arrays by reducing the number of digital predistortion extraction loops that need to be performed. Digital predistortion (DPD) corrects any non-linearities in a power amplifier. By determining which power amplifiers have similar characteristics in an array, and thus may use similar predistortion coefficients, once the DPD coefficients are determine for one of the grouped power amplifiers, DPD can be performed on each of the grouped power amplifiers based on the DPD coefficients.

  • Publication number: 20220263559
Abstract: Fast calculation of channel state information using demodulation reference signals (DM-RS) is provided herein. The channel state information can be calculated by estimating the signal to noise ratio of a communication link based on the DM-RS, and then estimating the channel quality indicator based on the SINR. The advanced receivers can use list-based detection methods which the estimated SINR can improve the performance thereof. Channel state information is traditionally calculated based on the channel state reference signals (CS-RS). Demodulation reference signals, which are used for channel estimation for a data channel, are transmitted at different times than CS-RS however, and so some portions of the channel state information including layer indicator (LI) and channel quality indicator (CQI) can be calculated based on the demodulation reference signals, allowing a network to adapt more quickly to changing channel conditions, without having to transmit a CS-RS.

  • Publication number: 20220256516
Abstract: An adaptive two-stage downlink control channel structure is utilized for control channel transmission with code block group (CBG) retransmission for 5G and other next generation wireless systems. In an aspect, the first stage of the two-stage downlink control channel structure utilizes a defined format (e.g., having a fixed length) and provides information that is employable to determine the length and/or coding scheme of the second stage. In another aspect, the second stage of the two-stage downlink control channel structure utilizes a variable length/size to indicate the CBGs that are scheduled to be retransmitted (e.g., by employing a variable length bitmap). As an example, the length/size is varied based on a length/size of a transport block, from which the CBGs have been generated.

  • Patent number: 11398854
Abstract: A low complexity multiple input multiple output transmitter that transmits a single codeword per channel is disclosed herein. Instead of sending multiple codewords per channel for transmissions that support higher data layer transmissions, the transmitter can send single codewords over multiple channels in order to improve spectral efficiency over a range of signal to interference plus noise ratios. For instance, if a downlink transmission to a user equipment (UE) has a rank of 4, capable of supporting 4 data layers, instead of sending 2 or more codewords over a single downlink control channel, the transmitter can schedule multiple control channels and transmit a single codeword per channel. The transmitter can also include in the signaling to the UE that the multi-codewords are included in multiple downlink control channels.

  • Patent number: 11399389
Abstract: Sub bands can be scheduled with optimal modulation and coding scheme (MCS) when the user equipment reports the sub band channel quality indicator (CQI) and sub band pre-coding matrix index (PMI). The network can use multiple downlink control channels to indicate the sub band resources and the corresponding MCS for that resource allocation. By using multiple downlink control channels to indicate the sub band MCS, the network can use resources more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 11394493
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a transmission system using codeblock segmentation that does not have to retransmit each of the codeblock segments if one of the codeblock segments is determined to have an error at the receiver. The transmitter segments a transport block into a group of codeblock segments, each having respective cyclic redundancy check bits. The receiver receives the group of codeblock segments, and during decoding, if it is determined that one of the segments have an error, instead of just sending back to the transmitter a negative acknowledgement (NAK) the receiver can send back a NAK as well as an indicator of which segment was in error. The transmitter can then resend just the segment in error in order to improve efficiency and decrease power requirements.

  • Patent number: 11387934
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for indicating a number of codeword symbols in a data traffic transmission. Depending on the number of layers of a data traffic transmission, the transmission can either comprise one codeword symbol or two codeword symbols. If there are two codeword symbols included in a data traffic transmission, the transmitter can indicate the modulation code scheme and other information for each codeword symbol in the first codeword symbol and second codeword symbol locations in the downlink control information data structure. If there is only one codeword symbol, however, the transmitter can provide a modulation code scheme and redundancy version that would not be self-decodable in the second codeword symbol setting location, indicating to the receiver that there is only one codeword symbol in the data traffic transmission.

  • Publication number: 20220209793
Abstract: Various embodiments provide for encoding and decoding data channel information with polar codes where the frozen bits of the information block can be set to a scrambling identifier based on the device ID, cell ID, or some other unique identifier instead of being set to null. The frozen bits can be identified based on the type of polar code being used, and while the non-frozen bits can be coded with the data link data, the frozen bits can be coded with the scrambling identifier. In an example where there are more frozen bits than bits in the scrambling identifier, the most reliable of the frozen bits can be coded with the scrambling identifier. In another example, the frozen bits can be set to the CRC bits, which can then be masked by the scrambling identifier.

  • Patent number: 11374715
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards adapting the demodulation reference signal sent in a wireless resource data block based on channel estimation performance. In general, if the demodulation reference signal received was not successfully able to be used to demodulate the resource data block, the demodulation reference signal density can be increased up to a maximum density, which costs resource elements but improves the channel estimation accuracy. If the demodulation reference signal received was able to be used to demodulate the resource data block, the demodulation reference signal density can be decreased down to minimum density, which saves resource elements for data. The network device can use HARQ ACK/NACK data (e.g., a current count or counted over a time period) to determine channel estimation performance, and/or the user equipment can recommend a demodulation reference signal density change.

  • Patent number: 11375428
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards adaptively changing which transmission scheme a user equipment is to use based on a Doppler metric (e.g. Doppler frequency) as evaluated against a threshold Doppler value. A network instructs a user equipment to use a Rank-1 precoder cycling transmission scheme if the Doppler metric of user equipment is above a threshold value, or to use a closed loop MIMO transmission scheme if the user equipment has a Doppler metric below the threshold value. The network can instruct the user equipment via a suitable message, or by switching off TPMI and notifying the user equipment thereof.
