  • Patent number: 10399398
Abstract: A motor vehicle frame includes a tow eye receiver bracket receiving recess. A mechanical fastener extends into the tow eye receiver bracket receiving recess. A tow eye receiver bracket is arranged in the tow eye receiver bracket receiving recess. The tow eye receiver bracket includes a base member, a first side member extending outwardly from the base member and a second side member extending outwardly from the base member forming a substantially C-shaped cross-section. At least one of the first and second side members and the base member includes a decoupling feature engageable with the mechanical fastener. The decoupling feature prevents movement of the tow eye receiver bracket outwardly of the frame member and enables movement of the tow eye receiver bracket into the frame member.

  • Publication number: 20140062129
Abstract: An impact deflection and absorption structure for a vehicle having a vehicle body that includes a passenger compartment and an under-hood compartment. The impact deflection and absorption structure includes a frame having a frame rail configured to support the vehicle body. The impact deflection and absorption structure also includes a bumper assembly secured to the frame rail. The bumper assembly includes an impact beam arranged substantially transverse to the frame rail and a lateral member secured to the impact beam. The lateral member projects away from the impact beam and is configured to counteract impact energy that is directed substantially parallel to the frame rail into the frame rail and away from the under-hood compartment and the passenger compartment. A vehicle employing the impact deflection and absorption structure is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130081897
Abstract: An engine cradle mounting an engine in a vehicle has left and right side members spaced laterally apart on opposite sides of the engine, a rear cross member having right and left ends attached respectively to the left and right side members, and a front cross member having left and right ends attached respectively to the left and right side members. Body mounts are provided on the left and right ends of the front cross member for bolting the cradle to the vehicle body. Left and right deflector devices are mounted on the cradle, and each includes an impact receiving member that projects outwardly from the cradle to receive an impact load, and a brace member that extends between the cradle and the impact receiving member to brace the impact receiving member and provide a load path transferring the impact load into the cradle.
