  • Patent number: 6427294
Abstract: The present invention intends to provide a waterproof slide fastener in which a synthetic resin film is fused to a fastener tape in order to prevent a perforation phenomenon that the synthetic resin film does not exist locally. A laminated synthetic resin film composed of low melting point resin layer having melting point of, for example, 100° C.-140° C. and high melting point resin layer having melting point of, for example, 150° C.-230° C. is fused to a surface or both surfaces of a pair of the fastener tapes with the low melting point resin layer being in contact with and opposing the fastener tape by heating with pressure. Fastener elements are mounted onto a side edge of the fastener tape and the laminated synthetic resin film is formed so as to protrude outward from the side edge of the fastener tape and a center point of coupling of the fastener elements.

  • Patent number: 6314623
Abstract: A core cord is inserted into coil-shaped fastener elements made of thermoplastic resin, and the fastener elements are sewn onto a fastener tape by multi-thread chain stitch. Yarn mainly made of thermally meltable synthetic fiber is used for looper thread of multi-thread chain stitch, while yarn of fiber which is not or less meltable is used for needle thread. Entangling points of the looper thread and the needle thread are disposed on the core cord. The looper thread is thermally melted to form melted portions where the looper thread and the needle thread entangle with each other at the entangling points. As a result, melted portions which have become monofilamentary are formed on the fastener elements or no sewing yarn is on the fastener elements due to thermal melting. Thus, there is no fear of cutting of the sewing yarn due to sliding of a slider and the slide fastener is abrasive resistant.

  • Patent number: 5705114
Abstract: A synthetic resin monofilament being continuously supplied is intermittently stamped to form head portions as flattened protuberances bulging laterally. Then the stamped monofilament is bent at the head portions to form leg portions and turnover portions bridging the leg portions of adjacent head portions, forming an continous coupling element row. While the continous coupling element row is conveyed by a conveying section, the head portions are heated and softened by a heating section, and a head-portion shaping tool having arcuate recesses is brought into contact with the individual outwardly curved softened head portions to shape the external shape of each head portion into an arcuate shape.

  • Patent number: 5164205
Abstract: An apparatus for stamping a monofilament to form shaped portions for slide fastener coupling elements, including: a stationary shaft having a mandrel extending from its one end; a pair of stamping rollers comprising a cylindrical roller and an annular roller; and a monofilament supply roller for supplying a monofilament. The apparatus stamps a monofilament so as to provide coupling head portions, leg turnover portions, deformed portions, grooves, etc. of slide fastener coupling elements.

  • Patent number: 5135699
Abstract: A method for stamping a monofilament between a pair of mating stamping rollers to form shaped portions for slide fastener coupling elements includes using an annular outer roller and a cylindrical inner roller with pressing projections on a mating stamping surface of at least one of the rollers. The rollers are positioned in such an arrangement that an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical inner roller mates partially with an inner circumferential surface of the annular outer roller. The rollers are rotated in a common direction, and monofilament is supplied continuously to an area where an inner circumferential surface of the annular outer roller and an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical inner roller mate. The monofilament is thereby pressed for a longer time in order to form accurately coupling head portions of slide fasteners.

  • Patent number: 5119534
Abstract: In a method of forming coupling head portions on a monofilament of thermoplastic synthetic resin for production of a slide fastener coupling element, the monofilament is stamped from one side to form recessed small-thickness portions bulging from the other side of the monofilament, and then the monofilament is bent at opposite ends of each of the recessed small-thickness portions in such a manner that the concave side of each small-thickness portions faces outwardly.

  • Patent number: 5058246
Abstract: Slide fastener elements made of a helically wound synthetic resin monofilament and the method of forming the same. According to a preferred embodiment, each fastener element comprises an interengaging head arranged on one-line in the longitudinal direction of the slide fastener elements, a pair of interengaging head-side widened portions formed at the both sides of the interengaging head, upper and lower legs extending from the both ends of the interengaging head through the pair of interengaging head-side widened portions respectively so as to transverse the longitudinal direction of the slide fastener elements and a turn extending between an upper leg of one slide fastener element and a lower leg of an adjacent slide fastener element through a pair of connecting portions formed at the both sides of the turn. The interengaging head is formed by pressing the monofilament to be sidened at its portion corresponding to the interengaging head.
