    Abstract: A mirror angle adjusting device for use with an automotive rearview mirror assembly has a base member adapted to be fixed to an automobile body, a mirror housing assembly angularly movably coupled to the base member, a mirror holder tiltably supported on the mirror housing assembly and holding a rearview mirror, a control lever assembly for remotely controlling angular adjustment of the rearview mirror, and a coupling assembly for coupling the mirror holder and the control lever assembly. The coupling assembly includes a rotatable shaft mechanism having at least one shaft rotatable about an axis thereof in response to operation of the control lever assembly, an arm swingable about the shaft in response to rotation of the shaft for tilting the mirror holder, and a clutch assembly for selectively disconnecting the control lever assembly from the mirror holder, the clutch assembly including a cam on the shaft and a flat spring assembly between the arm and the shaft for resiliently engaging the cam.

    Abstract: An automotive rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror housing adapted to be mounted on a fixed member of an automobile outside of the passenger's compartment, a mirror swingably disposed in the mirror housing, a control mechanism including a control lever adapted to project from the housing into the passenger's compartment, and a rotatable shaft mechanism pivotally coupled to a rear surface of the mirror at a plurality of positions thereon, the rotatable shaft mechanism being rotatable in response to control movements of the control lever, for vertically and laterally adjusting the angle of the mirror with respect to the mirror housing. The mirror housing is angularly movable about the axis of the rotatable shaft mechanism in unison with the mirror within the mirror housing.

    Abstract: An indirectly heated type cathode assembly comprises a cathode sleeve having a heater within itself and having an emitter-impregnated type cathode disc fitted at one end, a plurality of straps connected at one end to a lower end portion of the cathode sleeve, and a cylinder holder whose upper end is connected to the other end of each strap, the holder being located outside the cathode sleeve such that it is spaced a predetermined distance apart from the cathode sleeve. A heat reflecting cylinder is located between the cathode sleeve and the holder of the indirectly heated type cathode assembly such that it is coaxial with the cathode sleeve and holder. The heat reflecting cylinder is supported by the holder and each strap extends such that it is not in contact with the heat reflecting cylinder. The strap is made of a Ta-W alloy or a Ta-W-Hf alloy.

The impregnated cathode of the present invention maintains stable electron emission characteristics from an early stage of operation.

    Abstract: An output phosphor film used in an output screen of an image intensifier is made of ZnS or (Zn, Cd)S host material and at least one activator element selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ag, Au, Al, and Cl. The phosphor film is formed on a face plate by means of chemical vapor-deposition, or physical vapor deposition in an inert-gas atmosphere having a pressure of 1 Pa or more, and is heat-treated. The formed phosphor film has hexagonal (Wurtzite-type) crystal and/or cubic (sphalerite-type) crystal structure. These crystals are orientated such that the (002) planes of the hexagonal crystals and/or the (111) planes of the cubic crystals are substantially parallel to the face plate.
