  • Patent number: 5350193
Abstract: This invention relates to an air bag inflation gas generator to feed combustion gas for inflation of air bags such as air bags for absorbing collision shocks, life jackets, rafts, and escape chutes. When the generator is exposed to a high temperature environment such as fire and a temperature of a second end plate rises, heat of the second end plate is transmitted to an ignition agent via a heat sensing means, the ignition agent is ignited at a temperature thoroughly lower than the firing temperature of gas generating agents, and the gas generating agents burn.

  • Patent number: 5336527
Abstract: A method of covering a substrate surface with a sintered layer comprises the step of loading a powdery raw material in a region of forming a sintered layer on the surface of a substrate, and the step of sintering the loaded powdery raw material so as to form a sintered layer on the surface of the substrate. The powdery raw material contains at least two elements and has a temperature region in which a solid phase and a liquid phase are present together. The liquid phase is wettable with the substrate. The sintering step is performed within a temperature region in which the solid phase and the liquid phase of the powdery raw material are present together.

  • Patent number: 5062367
Abstract: This invention relates to an air bag inflation gas generator to feed gas for inflation of air bags such as air bags for absorbing collision shocks, life jackets, rafts, and escape chutes. The air bag inflation gas generator according to the present invention has a combustion chamber comprising a bottom-closed cylinder of a housing body and a lid covering the opening of the bottom-closed cylinder. The housing body comprises the bottom-closed cylinder, a flange extending outward and formed integrally with the opening of the bottom-closed cylinder, and an external cylinder formed on the periphery of the flange and bent toward the bottom of the housing body. A plenum chamber is formed by covering the external and bottom-closed cylinders with a covering member from the bottom of the housing body and by welding the covering member to the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4809756
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structure of a pin for a spike tire to be mounted on a vehicle such as automobile when it runs on a road slippery with ice or snow. The pin is embedded in the tire tread, with the flat end thereof being exposed on the external surface of the tire so that it touches the ice or snow on the road to lower the freezing point thereof. The pin in accordance with the present invention is especially characterized in that the exposed end of the pin has two flat surfaces parallel to the tire side wall and two slightly convex surfaces which are vertical to the tire side wall, the cross-section of the body portion of the pin being substantially square and the outwardly spreading basal portion of the pin being oval-shaped, so that when the vehicle starts to move or is braked, said slightly convex vertical surfaces of the pin are selectively forced to project from the tire in accordance with the tire deformation.

  • Patent number: 4750667
Abstract: A method whereby a base member having a surface on which a wear-resistant layer is formed and a mold member are disposed in opposing relation so as to form a gap between the surface of the base member and the surface of the mold member opposing the surface of the base member. Sintered hard substance grains of a hard substance powder such as material selected from carbides, nitrides and borides of metals belonging to groups IV, V and VI of the periodic table are filled in the afore-mentioned gap along the wear-resistant layer forming surface of the base member. A metal of self-melting alloy is then permeated into a filling-up layer of the sintered hard substance grains. The mold member is thereafter removed and the exposed surface is polished to obtain a fine wear-resistant layer on the base member.

  • Patent number: 4675809
Abstract: An execution processing device for executing variable length floating-point data of exponent part designated by two or more kinds of representation systems and fixed length floating-point data of exponent part designated by two or more kinds of representation systems, includes a converting circuit which converts the data of various representation systems into a common representation system which is capable of expressing the data in a common data form responsive to an operation mode that is provided to discriminate the various representation systems at the time of reading and operating on the data of the various representation systems stored in a storage unit according to the same load instruction. An arithmetic unit introduces the data converted by said converting circuit into the common representation system, which performs the operation designated by the same instruction, and which produces the operation result as the data of the common representation system.

  • Patent number: 4321653
Abstract: A safety grounding device for vehicles having a conductive resilient strip adjustably suspended from the vehicle frame through a fixture attached to the base end portion thereof, to make a resilient contact with the ground at its lower end. A reflecting member is attached to a lower part of the conductive resilient strip to act as a traffic sign for the drivers of succeeding cars. The reflecting member is secured in such a manner as to be swung by the dynamic pressure of air during running of the vehicle but suspended vertically during deceleration or stopping due to reduced dynamic pressure of air, to inform the driver of the succeeding vehicle of the deceleration or stopping of the preceding vehicle. The reflecting member also functions as a weight for pulling the strip downwardly to eliminate the lateral swinging of the strip, thereby to enhance the chance of contact of the strip with the ground to release the electricity from the vehicle frame to the ground.
