Abstract: Index for use in measuring instruments includes a main body formed with a transparent synthetic resin and having an indicating portion for indicating measured values; a skirt portion formed on the base of the main body with the same transparent synthetic resin as that of the main body and having a hole through which the distal end of an index shaft of a movement element from the measuring instrument is inserted; a balancer disposed on a side opposite to that of the indicating portion and over the skirt portion with a synthetic resin blended with a high specific gravity material for adjusting the balance to the indicating portion; and a cap formed with a non-transparent synthetic resin for covering the base portion of the main body and balancer.

Abstract: An illumination meter dial device comprises a transparent base plate (32); a black semitransparent layer (38) coated on the transparent base plate so as to form marks (28 or 30); a black opaque layer (40) coated so as to cover a margin and an outer periphery of the mark formed by the black semitransparent layer (38); and a white semitransparent layer (42) coated so as to cover a margin of the black opaque layer (40) and all over the dial plate except the marks.

Abstract: A multi-scale indicator which has a main scale and a sub-scale is constructed so as to prevent a misreading between the main scale and the sub-scale. A sub-scale prism and the light source which illuminates only the sub-scale are light insulated from the main scale prism and the light source which illuminates the main scale, due to the sub-scale prism being securely buried within a circular arc shaped prism receiving groove which is formed on the main scale prism. Light opaque paint is spread between the main scale prism and the sub-scale prism to prevent the occurrence of light leakage therebetween. Also provided is an electrical control for supplying a light to the sub-scale prism only when the pointer is moved to a predetermined zone located on the end of the main scale.

Abstract: A meter dial illuminating device for illuminating a dial by means of a light incident upon a back surface thereof. The dial is formed of a light transmitting material except at a portion where characters and a scale are indicated. As a result, the front surface of the dial is illuminated by the light incident upon the back surface of the light guiding plate and transmitted therethrough.
