    Abstract: The present invention provides a display device of high brightness which can eliminate brightness irregularities on a display surface while preventing the degradation of display quality attributed to an undesired electric field generated at the time of performing inverter driving of the cold cathode fluorescent lamps of a backlight. In a liquid crystal display device, a plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps of a backlight unit is arranged along a short axis of the display device. The cold cathode fluorescent lamp has a high-voltage electrode thereof connected to an inverter circuit and a ground electrode thereof connected to a ground. Further, the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps arranged along the short axis have electrodes thereof arranged alternately between the high-voltage electrode and the ground electrode.

An ATM switch A30 is provided to establish the ISDN line connecting with an ATM multiplexer A20 when any failure occurs in an ATM transmission path contacting with the ATM multiplexer A20. Negotiation is carried out with ATM multiplexer A30 by using the established ISDN line so as to decide a channel characteristic of a backup VP/VC to be set on the ISDN line. Then, the ATM switch A30 and the ATM multiplexer A20 communicate with each other by using the backup VP/VC having the decided channel characteristic on the ISDN line.

Either an alloy of Cu and the Pb-base alloy or a porous Cu mass impregnated with the Pb-base alloy is a highly corrosion-resistant bearing material, and the Pb-base alloy serves also as a direct overlay on a Cu-base bearing material due to negligible heat diffusion of Sn from the alloy.
