  • Publication number: 20240017049
Abstract: A vascular access system configured for delivery of a tube or probe into a patient's vascular system, the vascular access system including a catheter adapter having a distal portion and a proximal portion, wherein a catheter extends from the distal portion and a septum assembly is housed within the proximal portion, and a connector assembly. The connector assembly includes a coupling interface configured to couple the connector assembly to the proximal portion of the catheter adapter, and a cannula. The cannula may be configured to extend through the septum assembly of the catheter adapter when the connector assembly is coupled to the proximal portion of the catheter adapter. The connector assembly also includes a proximal interface, wherein the proximal interface is configured for coupling to a blood draw device having an elongated core extending from a distal end thereof.

  • Publication number: 20230390530
Abstract: A catheter system may include a catheter assembly, which may include a catheter adapter and a catheter. The catheter system may include a needle assembly, a barrel, an introducer needle comprising a sharp distal tip, a needle hub coupled to the introducer needle and movably disposed within the barrel, and a spring disposed within the barrel. The catheter system may include a push button disposed in a locked position such that depression of the push button is inhibited. The push button may be configured to slide laterally or distally from the locked position to an unlocked position. When the push button is in the unlocked position and the barrel is spaced apart from the catheter adapter, the push button may be configured to depress. In response to depression of the push button, the spring may be configured to expand proximally and move the needle hub proximally within the barrel.

  • Publication number: 20230390532
Abstract: A catheter system may include a catheter hub, a catheter tube, a needle carrier, a needle extending distally from the needle carrier and through the catheter tube, a guidewire slider, and a guidewire extending distally from the guidewire slider. The guidewire slider may be configured to couple to the needle carrier in response to sliding of the guidewire slider. The catheter system may include a safety slider configured to slide with the guidewire slider from a proximal position to a distal position. In response to the guidewire slider and the safety slider sliding together from the proximal position to the distal position, the safety slider may be configured to couple to a proximal end of the needle carrier. In response to rotation of an additional slider into a cutout tab of a housing, the guidewire slider may be configured to uncouple from the additional slider.

  • Publication number: 20230372675
Abstract: A vascular access system for use with a blood draw or probe delivery device, the system including a catheter adapter having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, wherein a catheter extends from the distal end portion of the catheter adapter, and an extension set. The extension set includes a stabilization platform, a catheter adapter interface, wherein the catheter adapter interface is configured to secure the proximal end portion of the catheter adapter, and a probe access portion. The probe access portion includes a needle free connector configured to receive a distal connector portion of the blood draw or probe delivery device, and the probe access portion is positioned in-line with the catheter adapter to provide a direct fluid path for a tube or probe of the blood draw or probe delivery device to be advanced through the probe access portion, the catheter adapter, and the catheter.

  • Patent number: 11724044
Abstract: A catheter system may include a luer adapter, which may include an outer surface having threading or a recess. The catheter system may also include a flow control plug, which may include a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the flow control plug may include a filter element permeable to air and not to blood. The distal end of the flow control plug may include a cylinder and a taper-shaped luer tip spaced apart from the cylinder. An inner surface of the cylinder may include a protrusion engaged in a snap-fit with the recess or corresponding threading mated with the threading.

  • Publication number: 20230233812
Abstract: An IV catheter device can include needle cover that functions as a needle shield. By using the needle cover as a needle shield, the design of the IV catheter device is simplified thereby reducing its cost. The needle cover can be configured to slide along a needle hub between a distalmost position in which the needle cover functions as either a needle cover or a needle shield and a proximal position in which the needle cover exposes the needle to enable the catheter to be inserted into a patient's vasculature.

The cap may include a first arm and a second arm extending distally from the top. The first arm may include a first slot, and the second arm may include a second slot. The first protrusion may be disposed within the first slot and the second protrusion may be disposed within the second slot. The cap may include a collar extending distally from the top. An inner surface of the collar may include a first undercut and a second undercut. The first protrusion may be disposed within the first undercut and the second protrusion may be disposed within the second undercut.

  • Publication number: 20230233811
Abstract: A catheter system may include a blood shield secured within a catheter hub. The blood shield may include a distal end, a proximal end, a blood shield lumen extending through the distal end and the proximal end, and an inner wall forming the blood shield lumen. The inner wall may include a narrowed inner diameter portion or a shield bump. The catheter system may include an introducer needle having a sharp distal tip and a needle bump. The introducer needle may extend through the catheter and the blood shield. In response to proximal retraction of the introducer needle, the needle bump may be configured to contact the narrowed inner diameter portion or the shield bump to pull the blood shield proximally out of the catheter hub. The sharp distal tip may be disposed within the blood shield when the needle bump contacts the narrowed inner diameter portion or the shield bump.
