  • Patent number: 7761054
Abstract: A method and system for receiving a beacon signal includes a splitter that divides a beacon signal into a first beacon signal and a second beacon signal. The system includes a pair of downconverters down converting the beacon signals into down converted signals. A pair of beacon receivers receives the two downconverted signals and a controller communicates with the first beacon receiver and the second beacon receiver through a first connection and a second connection. Upon interruption of the first connection, the second connection is used for communicating the beacon signals.

  • Patent number: 7720433
Abstract: An antenna hub having an antenna includes a housing. Uplink circuitry is disposed within the housing. The uplink circuitry includes block upconverters, high-power amplifiers and variable phase combined amplifiers. A diplexer is also disposed within the housing at the antenna hub. A configuration is set-up for redundancy so that uplink signals are not lost.

  • Patent number: 7715788
Abstract: A method and system for determining attenuation and controlling uplink power in a satellite communication system includes receiving a beacon signal and establishing a clear sky uplink power value. A fade value is determined in response to the beacon signal and in response to the clear sky uplink power value and the fade value, an uplink power is determined. The fade value corresponds to a delta value in addition to the clear sky uplink power to obtain the final uplink power.

  • Patent number: 7706747
Abstract: A method and apparatus for broadcasting in a satellite communication system includes uplinking first uplink signals using a primary site, determining a switchover event and determining a primary site switch time. The primary site switch timer is determined along with a diverse site switch timer that is after the primary switch time. The uplink signal is discontinued from the primary site and the uplinking second uplink signals from the diverse site.
