Abstract: A recloseable end unit for containers including an end ring securable to a container body and a removable cover. Both the end ring and the cover have terminal axial flanges terminating in curls, with the curls being directed in opposite directions and proportioned to snap past each other both during the removal of the cover and the replacement thereof.

Abstract: An end unit of the type including an outer ring and a separately formed cover each having annular channels which interlock to secure the cover in place on the ring and form a seal between the cover and the ring. The interlock is improved selectively by interlocking beads on radially outer walls of the interlocking channels or by a socket in the radially outer wall of the ring channel and a radially inwardly projecting bead on the radially inner wall of the cover channel, the bead projecting into the socket. The interlocks permit greater tolerances in the manufacture of the end unit, particularly the interlocking channels. This also provides for greater tolerances in the application of the cover after the associated container has been filled.

Abstract: A tab for an easy open end which comprises a rivet securing the tab intermediate its ends to the end panel, the tab having a nose end which is adapted to be pressed downwardly upon lifting of the opposite lift end of the tab against a tear-out portion of the end panel and to push the same inwardly. The invention is directed to forming the nose and the lift end of the tab in such manner that both ends of the tab are maintained in constant contact with the container end while it is attached intermediate its ends to the container end panel in order to prevent rocking of the tab and thus producing a fatigue failure in the scored area which is adjacent the tab.
