Patent number: 11673384Abstract: A membrane covered panel and a membrane covered panel production method are provided wherein an elastomeric membrane, and preferably, an aqueous elastomeric resin-based membrane, is applied to a finished panel construct, prior to pressing of the membrane covered panel. The method is used to produce panels which can be used in the production of flooring materials, wall panels, furniture, countertops, and the like. The membrane is applied to a transfer film, which transfer film can be removed at any time prior to, or after the pressing operation. The panels produced have a durable but elastic surface which can protect the surfaces of the panel construct. The elastomeric covering on the panel construct also preferably provides a surface which is abrasion resistant, and provides better acoustical properties while providing a soft touch haptic surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2018Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Inventors: Robert N. Clausi, Salvatore A. Diloreto

Publication number: 20220289980Abstract: The present invention describes the production of wood panel boards, or the like, in which a surface modifying agent is mixed with a polyol to prepare a stable surface modifying agent polyol composition. The resultant composition is reacted with an isocyanate, and in particular, a polymeric di-isocyanate resin, in the presence of wood chips, fibers or the like, for the production of lignocellulosic based panels, such as oriented strand board (OSB), MDF, HDF and particle board panel products. In use, the surface modifying agent polyol composition is mixed with the polymeric di-isocyanate resin and the resultant mixture is applied to a lignocellulosic material, such as wood chips or fibers, immediately prior to hot pressing of the mixture to produce the panels. Sticking of the panels to the metal press belts or press plates typically used during production, is reduced or eliminated.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2022Publication date: September 15, 2022Inventors: Robert N. Clausi, Salvatore Diloreto

Patent number: 11214648Abstract: An open cell polyurethane foam is provided which has a cell size and structure which allows the foam to act as an air and water barrier while still having acceptable water vapour permeability. The foam preferably is produced using water as a blowing agent, and includes a mixture of open cell-promoting, and closed-cell-promoting surfactants so as to provide an open cell foam structure having a cell size of about 1 ?m, a density of about 1.05 lb per cubic foot, and wherein the cell structure includes randomly occurring solid walls on some cells. The open cell polyurethane foams of the present invention are suitable for use as insulation on the exterior surfaces of a building.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2017Date of Patent: January 4, 2022Inventor: Salvatore A. Publication number: 20210039372Abstract: A laminated panel is provided which comprises, or consists of, a core panel to which an elastomeric resin impregnated single finishing printed paper layer has been applied. The paper for the single finishing printed paper layer is printed to provide a design feature on the laminated panel. Preferably, the design feature has been printed on a lower surface of the single finishing printed paper layer. As a result of the resin impregnation and heating and pressing operations, the single finishing printed paper layer becomes translucent or transparent, and thus allows the printed design feature to become visible. The design feature can be printed onto the single finishing printed paper prior to treatment with the elastomeric resin, or printed onto the previously treated elastomeric resin impregnated paper. The laminated panels can be used in the production of laminated flooring, wall panels or furniture panels.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2020Publication date: February 11, 2021Inventors: Robert Clausi, Salvatore Diloreto

Publication number: 20200030846Abstract: A panel and a panel production method are provided wherein an elastomeric coating, and preferably, a water-based elastomeric polyurethane coating, is applied to a pre-existing, finished panel construct, by pressing the coating onto the panel construct, and thereby bond the coating to the surface of the panel construct. The method is used to produce enhanced panels which can be used in the production of flooring materials, wall panels, furniture, countertops, and the like. The resultant panels typically have an enhanced surface that protects the surface layer of the panel construct. The coated panel can also be made abrasion resistant, and can also be enhanced so as to provide better acoustical properties while providing a soft touch, haptic surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2018Publication date: January 30, 2020Inventors: Robert N. Publication number: 20090324924Abstract: A foam material is made through a spray process by combining a polyol with a pre-reacted isocyanate. The pre-reacted isocyanate contains an isocyanate pre-reacted with a prefoaming agent, such as a second polyol. The second polyol might be the same or different than the first polyol. Once combined in the presence of a blowing agent, the polyol and the pre-reacted isocyanate form a foam material, such as a polyurethane foam. The foam material is particularly well suited for insulating surfaces. In one embodiment, for instance, the foam is formed and applied on site.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2009Publication date: December 31, 2009Applicant: Guardian Building ProductsInventors: Gary E.
