  • Patent number: 10774733
Abstract: A bottoming cycle power system includes an expander disposed on a crankshaft. The expander being operable to receive a flow of exhaust gas from a combustion process and to rotate the crankshaft as the exhaust gas passes through. An absorption chiller system has a generator section having a first heat exchanger to receive the flow of exhaust gas from the expander and to remove heat from the exhaust gas after the exhaust gas has passed through the expander. An evaporator section has a second heat exchanger to receive the flow of exhaust gas from the generator section and to remove heat from the exhaust gas after the exhaust gas has passed through the generator section. A compressor is disposed on the crankshaft and connected to the flow of exhaust gas. The compressor is operable to compress the exhaust gas after the exhaust gas has passed through the second heat exchanger.

  • Publication number: 20170342940
Abstract: A method includes installing a CHP system to be operated by an operator. The operator becomes qualified as a market participant in a wholesale electricity market. An electrical output generated from the CHP system is connected to a first conductive path, the first conductive path operatively conducting power and energy to a grid for sale into the wholesale electricity market. Waste heat generated from the CHP system is utilized to provide one of a product and a process. An efficiency of the waste heat and an electrical efficiency of the electrical output are combined to attain an overall CHP system efficiency of 60 percent or greater.

  • Publication number: 20160314544
Abstract: A method of providing electric power and energy to a host comprises executing a power purchase agreement between a provider and the host. The provider has an electric generator system and the host has a facility located on a property of the host. The provider becomes a market participant in the regional wholesale electricity markets. The provider installs the generator system on the host's property. The provider provides power and energy to the host's facility through a local utility as an electric supplier. The provider provides distributed power and energy to the host's facility directly from the generator system.

  • Publication number: 20090077916
Abstract: A composite wall assembly includes a frame. A sheathing layer of composite material is mounted on the frame. At least one waterproof insulating layer is adhered to the sheathing layer without puncturing the waterproof insulating layer. An outer layer of composite material is adhered to the waterproof insulating layer opposite the sheathing layer without puncturing the outer layer. The sheathing layer and the outer layer may be a magnesium oxide composite board material.

  • Publication number: 20080105225
Abstract: A split-cycle air hybrid engine operatively connects an air reservoir to a split cycle engine. A power piston is received within a power cylinder and operatively connected to a crankshaft such that the power piston reciprocates through an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke during a single revolution of the crankshaft. A compression piston is received within a compression cylinder and operatively connected to the crankshaft such that the compression piston reciprocates through an intake stroke and a compression stroke in a single rotation of the crankshaft. The compression cylinder is selectively controllable to place the compression piston in a compression mode or an idle mode. An air reservoir is operatively connected between the compression cylinder and the power cylinder and selectively operable to receive compressed air from the compression cylinder and to deliver compressed air to the power cylinder for use in transmitting power to the crankshaft during engine operation.

  • Publication number: 20060011154
Abstract: A method for decelerating an expansion piston of an engine is presented. The engine includes an expansion piston slidably received within an expansion cylinder and operatively connected to a crankshaft such that the expansion piston reciprocates through an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke of a four stroke cycle during a single rotation of the crankshaft. A compression piston is slidably received within a compression cylinder and operatively connected to the crankshaft such that the compression piston reciprocates through an intake stroke and a compression stroke of the same four stroke cycle during the same rotation of the crankshaft. The method includes accelerating the expansion piston during the expansion stroke from the expansion piston's top dead center position, and decelerating the expansion piston during at least a portion of the expansion stroke crank angle interval between 0 degrees and 60 degrees after top dead center.

  • Publication number: 20050016475
Abstract: An engine includes a crankshaft having a crank throw, the crankshaft rotating about a crankshaft axis. A compression piston is slidably received within a compression cylinder and operatively connected to the crankshaft such that the compression piston reciprocates through an intake stroke and a compression stroke of a four stroke cycle during a single rotation of the crankshaft. An expansion piston is slidably received within an expansion cylinder. A connecting rod is pivotally connected to the expansion piston. A mechanical linkage rotationally connects the crank throw to the connecting rod about a connecting rod/crank throw axis such that the expansion piston reciprocates through an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke of the four stroke cycle during the same rotation of the crankshaft. A path is established by the mechanical linkage which the connecting rod/crank throw axis travels around the crankshaft axis.
