    Abstract: A shelf system for mounting a shelf to a wall, which includes a shelf having a rear edge and first and second shelf fasteners coupled to the shelf and protruding from the rear edge. The shelf system may also include a mounting bracket assembly for mounting directly to a wall and to which the shelf is to be coupled. The mounting bracket assembly may include first and second shelf engaging portions that have mounting apertures therethrough. Wall fasteners may extend through the mounting apertures of the first and second shelf engaging portions to mount the mounting bracket assembly to the wall. The portions of the first and second shelf fasteners which protrude from the rear edge of the shelf may be inserted into the mounting apertures of the first and second shelf engaging portions of the mounting bracket assembly to couple the shelf to the mounting bracket assembly.

The door is linearly translatable along the support rail in operation between open and closed positions. In one embodiment, an anti-sway clip disposed on the door bracket defines a stop surface configured to engage the support rail to arrest swaying motion of the door if a force is inadvertently applied to the door acting in a plane oriented transversely to the mounting axis.

One embodiment of mounting apertures includes an entrance opening having a larger cross-sectional area than an opposite exit opening. The entrance opening includes obliquely angled wall surfaces which facilitate insertion of the container neck into the mounting aperture.

The system in one embodiment includes a force-distributing mounting element positioned against the wall and between the item and the wall. The mounting element creates a gap between the item and wall. A cover secured to the item by a fastener is configured to at least partially cover the mounting element, gap, and an upper edge of the item to create an esthetically pleasing appearance. The fastener may extend completely through the cover, item, and mounting element and into the wall to mount the assembly thereto. In some implementations, the mounting element and cover may be omitted and the accessory item may be fastened directly to the wall, which may be hollow or solid. In one configuration, the item may be a cantilevered perimeter frame to which the accessory item is mounted.
