Publication number: 20070271950Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for delivering a beverage under pressure from a container to a dispensing means. The apparatus has a heat exchanger, a tank for holding a quantity of a coolant fluid and a reservoir for holding a quantity of the beverage. The reservoir is located in the tank for submersion in the coolant fluid. A first conduit delivers the beverage from the container to the heat exchanger while a second conduit delivers beverage to the reservoir. A third conduit delivers beverage from the reservoir to the dispensing means. The invention allows for the delivery of cold beverage form the container over a distance to the dispensing means.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2005Publication date: November 29, 2007Inventors: Markus Hess, Phil Carter, Sam Chiusolo

Publication number: 20070051125Abstract: An apparatus and method for dispensing a liquid stored in a container is provided. The apparatus has a housing defining an inner chamber for holding a quantity of a coolant fluid. The housing also has an outer chamber that surrounds the inner chamber. The two chambers are separated by a barrier. A pump located in the inner chamber pumps coolant fluid from the inner chamber into the outer chamber. The pumping action causes the coolant fluid to flow along a flow path up the outer chamber and over the barrier and back into the inner chamber as outer chamber fills. A refrigeration means is located in the flow path for cooling the coolant fluid. The coolant fluid flows over a fluid conduit received in the housing. The fluid conduit is received in the inlet and exits the housing through the outlet for delivering the liquid from the container through the housing to the exterior of the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2005Publication date: March 8, 2007Applicant: Icefloe Technologies Inc.Inventors: Sam Chiusolo, Markus Hess

Publication number: 20060137383Abstract: A beverage distribution system is provided for boosting the cooling capacity of conventional beer dispensing systems. This reduces the tendency of beer to foam prior to the dispensing of same. The beverage distribution system has a container for storing a beverage and a cooler for refrigerating the container and the beverage stored therein. The system also includes a beverage dispensing unit and a distribution line for delivering the beverage from the container to the dispensing unit. A trunk line extends substantially from or near the cooler to or near the dispensing tower. It includes the distribution line and a refrigerant line in an abutting relationship. The system has a heat transfer unit connected to the trunk line which is filled by refrigerant accumulating from the refrigerant line. The heat transfer unit has a coil connected to the distribution line for immersing a portion of the beverage in a bath of the refrigerant. A refrigeration loop circulates refrigerant through the heat transfer unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2003Publication date: June 29, 2006Applicant: Icefloe Technologies Inc.Inventor: Sam Chiusolo

Patent number: 6928824Abstract: A method for producing a desired amount of ice crystal formation in a beverage comprising the steps of cooling said beverage to a temperature below its ordinary freezing temperature at atmospheric pressure to form a cooled beverage; maintaining said beverage at a pressure sufficient to inhibit freezing of said beverage; dispensing said cooled beverage into a vessel; obtaining a cooled surface, having a temperature sufficiently low to cause flash freezing of a portion of said cooled beverage which comes into contact therewith; and presenting said cooled surface to said beverage for a time sufficient to form a desired amount of said ice crystals in said beverage. An apparatus is provided for carrying out the method.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2004Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Icefloe Technologies Inc.Inventors: Markus Hess, Cameron Dougall, Sam Chiusolo

Patent number: 6637224Abstract: An apparatus is provided for cooling a carbonated beverage stored in a container and dispensing non-foamed carbonated beverage. A method of cooling and delivering non-foamed beverage with the apparatus is also provided. The beverage is preferably beer. The apparatus comprises a housing that has a number of chambers. A chamber can optionally be provided for receiving a number of beer kegs. A pressurizing device is attached to a beer keg for maintaining the beer under pressure in the keg. A conduit is received in one of the chambers and communicates between the beer keg and a tap located on the exterior of the apparatus. A water and ice cooling mixture is circulated over the conduit in the same chamber for cooling the conduit. A perforated vessel surrounds the conduit to protect the conduit and the agitators from being damaged by ice particles. At least two agitators for circulating the cooling fluid over the conduit are located in chamber where the conduit is received.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2002Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: IceFloe Technologies Inc.Inventor: Sam Chiusolo
