  • Publication number: 20060230468
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel Pcr family genes which confer tolerance to heavy metals to organisms. More particularly, the present invention relates to novel Pcr family genes which confer tolerance to cadmium. Organisms transformed with any of the Pcr genes thereby have improved resistance to and increased level of toxic materials. Soil and water contaminated with heavy metals can be cleaned in an environment-friendly and economical manner by growing the Pcr-transformed organism, especially a plant transformed with the Pcr gene.

  • Publication number: 20060186783
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a panel of a slim cathode ray tube constructed such that the deflection angle of an electron beam is 110 degrees or more. The slim cathode ray tube includes a tube part constituted by joining the panel and a funnel with each other. The panel includes a face part, a side wall disposed around the face part such that the side wall is bent toward the funnel, and a seal edge formed at the side wall, the panel being joined with the funnel at the seal edge. On the assumption that the thickness of the center of the face part is Tc, the thickness of the long side of the seal edge is Tx, the thickness of the short side of the seal edge is Ty, and the thickness of the diagonal part of the seal edge is Td, the panel is constructed such that the following inequalities are satisfied: 0.8?Tc/Ty?Tc/Tx?1.0?Tc/Td and Td<Tx<Ty, and the side wall has an outer skirt angle of 0.5 to 1.5 degrees.

  • Patent number: 6356685
Abstract: The gain control device in a semiconductor optical amplifier using an optical fiber grating includes an input unit for receiving an optical signal, an output unit for outputting an amplified optical signal, and input and output optical isolators connected to the input and output units to establish paths of the input and output optical signals. The gain control device further includes a tension-controllable optical fiber grating connected to the input optical isolator for fine adjustment of a reflection peak wavelength. A semiconductor optical amplifier connected to the tension-controllable optical fiber grating is also provided to amplify the optical signal. A power supply supplies power to the semiconductor optical amplifier to drive the optical amplifier. In addition, an optical fiber grating is connected to the semiconductor optical amplifier and has a predetermined reflection peak wavelength.
