  • Patent number: 10521156
Abstract: A management apparatus of a multi-solid state disk (SSD) system implemented by a computer is provided. The management apparatus of the multi-SSD system may include a first SSD group including a plurality of SSDs arranged in rows or columns and configured to execute a received write command using segments in the plurality of SSDs, a second SSD group including a plurality of SSDs arranged in rows or columns and configured to execute a read command for valid data in the plurality of SSDs, and a manager configured to copy a valid page in the second SSD group while a write command for the first SSD group being executed and to erase all data in the second SSD group when the copying is completed.

  • Patent number: 10152416
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a buffer cache apparatus, a journaling file system, and a journaling method capable of incorporating journaling features based on nonvolatile memory. The buffer cache apparatus provides a data buffering function between a central processing unit (CPU) and storage. The buffer cache apparatus includes a plurality of cache blocks and a journal management unit. The plurality of cache blocks are configured as volatile or nonvolatile memory devices. The journal management unit maintains states of freezing for write-protecting dirty up-to-date cache blocks among the plurality of cache blocks.

  • Patent number: 9563566
Abstract: An integrated nonvolatile memory control subsystem and method are disclosed. The integrated nonvolatile memory control subsystem includes a nonvolatile buffer cache, a nonvolatile journal area, nonvolatile storage, and an integrated memory control unit. The integrated memory control unit performs a read operation, a write operation, a commit operation and a checkpoint operation on the cache blocks of the nonvolatile buffer cache and the journal blocks of the nonvolatile journal area. The integrated memory control unit sets each of data blocks of the nonvolatile storage as one among valid state, erasable state and invalid state, depending on being cached or not, being journaled or not, and being a clean cache or not, so as to maintain an authentic original up-to-date consistent data within any one of the nonvolatile buffer cache, the nonvolatile journal area and the nonvolatile storage.

  • Patent number: 8200889
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus embodying a flash translation layer (FTL) in a storage device including a flash memory. The FTL may classify a block into a sequential group and a fusion group based on a locality of a write request. The FTL may store data in blocks of the fusion group by using a page mapping scheme, and sequentially store data by using a block mapping scheme. The FTL may improve efficiency of garbage collection operation that is performed by using limited redundant blocks and also may increase efficiency of a non-sequential reference operation.
