  • Publication number: 20070283418
Abstract: A system for authenticating access to a data processing device or database is provided. The system includes a comparison module for comparing an attempt identifier with an account identifier, and a state-determining module for determining a state variable associated with at least one of the attempt identifier and the account identifier. The state-determining module determines the state variable by incrementing the state variable if the attempt identifier does not match the account identifier and if the state variable is less than a predetermined upper bound threshold, decrementing the state variable if the attempt identifier does match the account identifier and if the state variable is greater than a predetermined lower bound threshold, and authenticating the attempt identifier if the attempt identifier does match the account identifier and if the state variable equals the predetermined lower bound threshold.

  • Patent number: 7121697
Abstract: An illumination device comprises a rotating member secured to a hub of a fan of a computer having a transparent case and including LEDs, a receptacle formed above a center, the receptacle including a projected head and an internal electromagnet, control circuits each for periodically controlling an on or off of one or more of the LEDs, a coil of wire surrounded by the electromagnet, and positive and negative terminals; and a fixed member secured to the fan and including a central slot snugly coupled to the head for fastening the receptacle and the fixed member together. Turning on the computer, the fan, the rotating member, and the coil of wire will rotate so as to cut magnetic lines across a space defined by the electromagnet, induce a voltage in the terminals, and illuminate or flash the LEDs.

  • Patent number: 7101208
Abstract: A device is provided to detect whether a power cable having two four-pin connectors in a computer is malfunctioned or not without using a meter. In one embodiment, the device comprises a pair of positive and negative apertures and a LED. In a coupled state of the detection device and one connector of the power cable, the positive aperture is put on the first positive pin and the negative aperture is put on the first negative pin so as to electrically couple the device to the power cable for causing the LED to emit light if the electrical connection of a 5V power cable portion of the power cable is not broken. In another embodiment, electrical connections of both 5V and 12V power cable portions of the power cable can be detected.
