  • Publication number: 20070291688
Abstract: A method of handling packet data in a wireless communications system includes activating a hybrid automatic repeat request process, determining whether each of a plurality of packets to be transmitted is a signaling message or a control message, and setting maximum number of transmissions for a first packet of the plurality of packets to be 1 when the first packet is determined to be a signaling message or a control message.

  • Publication number: 20070183328
Abstract: A method of resetting radio link control entity in a receiver of a wireless communications system includes receiving a reset protocol data unit (RESET PDU), and not resetting a radio link control (RLC) entity if a reset sequence number (RSN) value in the RESET PDU is the same as an RSN value in a last received RESET PDU and if the RESET PDU is not the first RESET PDU received since the RLC entity was established or re-established.

  • Publication number: 20070155339
Abstract: A method of starting Integrity Protection in a receiving end of a radio communications system starts with receiving a first Radio Resource Control (RRC) message for starting Integrity Protection. Then, a first Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) is used to output a second RRC message to a network end of the radio communications system for indicating completion of starting Integrity Protection. Finally, a second SRB is prohibited from transmitting a third RRC message before receiving a confirmation message from the network end acknowledging successful receipt of the second RRC message.

  • Publication number: 20070153793
Abstract: A method of modifying Integrity Protection Configuration in a user end of a communications system starts with receiving a first Radio Resource Control (RRC) message through a first Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) on downlink for modifying the Integrity Protection Configuration. Activation Time of a second SRB on uplink is set to at least VR(RRC SN)+2. The Activation Time of the second SRB on uplink is attached to a second RRC message utilized for indicating completion of modifying the Integrity Protection Configuration. The second RRC message is outputted to a network end of the communications system through the first SRB on uplink. Finally, a third RRC message having a sequence number equal to the Activation Time is outputted through the second SRB on uplink after receiving an acknowledgement message indicating that the network end successfully received the second RRC message.

  • Publication number: 20070071008
Abstract: A method for initiating a storage window of a receiving end in a wireless communications system, which periodically retransmits previously transmitted data packets in an unacknowledged mode, includes receiving a first PDU after a receiving entity of the receiving end is established, re-established, or after a timer expires, and initiating a state variable, which is defined to be a sequence number of the highest numbered packet that has been received, according to a sequence number of the first received packet. An example of the wireless communications system is the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) with a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) application.

  • Publication number: 20070064631
Abstract: A wireless communications system operates in Acknowledged Mode. The wireless communications system has a control circuit, a central processing unit, and a memory storing a program code. When transmitting signaling messages, the wireless communications system transmits a data packet a predetermined number of times greater than 1 to ensure that the data packet is received successfully.

  • Publication number: 20070064600
Abstract: A wireless communications system has a communications device, which has an RLC entity having a transmitting side and a receiving side. When re-establishing the receiving side, to handle control PDUs, only the receiving side in the RLC entity of the communications device is re-established, a first control PDU corresponding to the receiving side is discarded, and a second control PDU corresponding to the transmitting side is retained and not discarded.

  • Publication number: 20070064668
Abstract: A method for improving transmission delay of a status report in a wireless communications system operating in an Acknowledged Mode includes triggering a status report transfer procedure and transmitting a status report packet a predetermined number of times that is more than one. A related wireless communications apparatus has a control circuit, a central processing unit, a memory, and program code for triggering a status report transfer procedure and transmitting a status report packet a predetermined number of times that is more than one.

  • Publication number: 20070064599
Abstract: A communications device utilized in a wireless communications system has an RLC entity with a transmitting side and a receiving side. Handling timers during reestablishment of the transmitting side includes only reestablishing the transmitting side in the RLC entity of the communications device, stopping a first timer corresponding to the transmitting side, and prolonging and not stopping a second timer corresponding to the transmitting side. The second timer is not a periodic timer.

  • Publication number: 20050041663
Abstract: Several methods to avoid potential deadlocks in a SDU discard function are disclosed. First, the decision rule of deciding discarded SDUs in a SDU discard function is modified. Consideration of the Length Indicator is added to the decision of discarded SDUs in a SDU discard function to completely cover the SDU set that should be discarded. Secondly, the status-formatted padding PDU is chosen when padding PDUs is needed. Finally, modified explicit SDU discarding SUFI to cover scenarios that cannot be handled by the conventional MRW SUFI is utilized.
