Abstract: A programmable electronic device automatically identifies at least a portion of a system configuration for the programmable electronic device and automatically generates an image request based at least in part on the identified system configuration. The programmable electronic device transmits the image request over one or more networks to a server, receives an image of operating system software, and installs the received image.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system and method for proliferating a computing device configuration relates to generating a categorized registry file including at least one registry entry that is categorized relative to a feature of the source computing device to which the at least one registry entry pertains, providing the categorized registry file to a target computing device, determining whether to import the at least one registry entry relative to a category to which the at least one registry entry is related, and importing the at least one registry entry into a registry of the target computing device if it is determined to so import it.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system and a method for recovering a device state related to detecting the installation of an application on a computing device, identifying information that pertains to the application, and storing the identified information in nonvolatile memory of the computing device so that the information can be recovered if a reset process is performed.
