  • Publication number: 20070096940
Abstract: The invention provides improved remote control replacement capability for keyless entry systems. A preferred embodiment provides a software program allowing a user to input various criteria, such as vehicle make, model, and year, vehicle identification number (VIN), remote control part number, receiver information, and so forth. Based on such information, the program queries a code database that relates this identifying information to the correct code format for the replacement remote control. The program communicates with a remote control programmer (RCP) and indicates the code format to be used for the replacement remote control, based on the query to the code database. A formatted code is programmed into the replacement remote control. Previously programmed codes may be retrieved. In one embodiment, a duplication mode allows the RCP to auto-sense and select the correct code type during the duplication process.
