  • Patent number: 11972059
Abstract: A gesture-recognition (GR) device made to be held or worn by a user includes an electronic processor configured by program instructions in memory to recognize a gesture. The device or a cooperating system may match a gesture identifier to an action identifier for one or more target devices in a user's environment, enabling control of the target devices by user movement of the GR device in three-dimensional space.

  • Publication number: 20220047081
Abstract: A protective screen for a pedicure chair assembly is configured to rotate between an up position and a down position. When in the down position, the protective screen interrupts a straight path between a patient sitting in a seat of the assembly and a therapist accessing the patient's feet. The protective screen allows the patient to enter and exit the chair when in the up position. The protective screen can be attached to a seat portion of the pedicure chair assembly so as to move with the seat portion. The protective screen may also deliver secondary treatment fluids.

  • Patent number: 11221883
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are directed to the implementation of configurable hierarchical schedulers with multiple levels, where each level may use one of several types of queueing mechanisms. A configurable, hierarchical scheduler is designed to handle large scale processing of requests (e.g., transmitting outgoing messages). The hierarchical scheduler distributes the loads to different queues handling different types of messages (e.g., by user ID, by Internet Address (IP), by schedule). The different layers of the hierarchical scheduler are configurable to queue and schedule traffic based on many factors, such as IP address, handling reputation, available downstream bandwidth, fairness, concurrency rates to handle multiple constraints, scheduling per client, time of delivery constrains, rate limits per user, domain scheduling per user, concurrency throttling per outbound channel, and sharing global rate limits across service processors.

  • Publication number: 20170112308
Abstract: A lid for a drinking cup for two having a generally circular panel of flexible material and having a circular retaining rim securing the lid to the circular rim of a drinking cup. The lid has a pair of orienting and access receptacles depending from the circular panel and having side walls sufficiently spaced to receive a drinking straw therebetween. The receptacles have drinking straw orienting walls for orientation of a pair of drinking straws within a cup. The receptacles each have a drinking straw entry wall oriented at an abrupt angle with the orienting wall and having a perforation permitting a drinking straw to be forced through the perforation and into a cup to which said lid is assembled.

  • Publication number: 20070154393
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to materials and methods for screening of volatile insecticides for activity against pests, such as those that pose a threat to public health (e.g., dipterans such as flies and mosquitoes). One aspect of the invention pertains to an apparatus and bioassay for screening volatile compounds for activity against pests. The subject invention also concerns methods of using volatile compounds as insecticides against pests that pose a threat to public health, such as flies and mosquitoes. The compounds used in the present methods can be formulated for use as an insecticide. The subject invention also concerns volatile compounds formulated for use as insecticides against pests that pose a threat to public health, such as flies and mosquitoes.
