  • Patent number: 7254143
Abstract: This invention provides solutions to resolve the potential security unsynchronizing problem when upper layers issue a suspend command to the RLC entity while a TFC selection exchange process has been initialised. Three solutions of this invention, can be used either in UM or in AM environment, in which the RLC entity defines a safe range factor and add it to the upper-layers-passed parameter N of the prior art to calculate a new suspend sequence number for the suspended RLC entity. During the suspension, the RLC entity will continuously pass the scheduled RLC PDUs to lower layers as long as the SN of scheduled RLC PDU is less than the new suspend sequence number. One solution of this invention is more suitable to be implemented in UM than in AM. In this solution, upper layers decide and pass to the RLC entity a suitable parameter N having a more tolerant safety range than the prior art does.

  • Patent number: 7203196
Abstract: The invention provides a data discard signalling procedure in a wireless communication system. If data is discarded by the transmitter, the transmitter needs to notify the receiver of the discard. A shortened move receiving window super-field is used to request the receiver to move its reception window and optionally to indicate the set of discarded RLC SDUs, as a result of an RLC SDU discard in the sender. A move receiving window acknowledgement super-field acknowledges the reception of a MRW SUFI. If various criteria are met, the SDU discard with explicit signalling procedure can be efficiently terminated resulting in increased transmission throughput. Utilizing the data discard signalling procedure of the present invention, transmission throughput is increased and the transmission performance is improved.

  • Publication number: 20060245430
Abstract: A method for reconfiguring receiving window size of a receiving end of a communication system in a transmitting end of the communication system includes receiving a status report unit from the receiving end and updating an acknowledge state variable and a maximum send state variable according to the status report unit. Positively acknowledged packets with sequence numbers greater than the acknowledge state variable are retained in a buffer of the transmitting end. Positively acknowledged packets with sequence numbers greater than the acknowledge state variable are marked by the transmitter end as positively acknowledged packets. The maximum send state variable is updated according to a command for reconfiguring receiving window size of the communication system. Positively acknowledged packets with sequence numbers greater than or equal to the maximum send state variable are marked as not yet acknowledged packets.
