  • Publication number: 20240107600
Abstract: A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of a user equipment (UE) to configure the UE for communication with an edge data network (EDN) in a 5G NR and beyond network, and to cause the UE to perform operations. The operations include decoding configuration information for an edge application server (EAS) of the EDN. The configuration information is received from an edge enabler client (EEC) node within an edge enabling layer (EEL) of the EDN. A communication link is established between at least one application client (AC) of the UE and the EAS based on the configuration information. Application data for the at least one AC received from the EAS via the communication link is decoded.

  • Publication number: 20230370416
Abstract: Techniques for maintaining service continuity in a 5G NR network in communication with a MEC system and an edge application (EDGEAPP) system are disclosed. A notification message originating from a service management function (SMF) of a core network (CN) is decoded at a network exposure function (NEF) of the CN. The notification message includes a UE IP address change of a UE. A private IP address of the UE is determined based on the UE IP address change. A query with the private IP address is encoded for transmission to a NAT server. A response from the NAT server is decoded. The response includes a public IP address and a UE ID of the UE. The public IP address corresponds to the private IP address. A tuple including the UE ID, the public IP address, and the private IP address is generated at the NEF.

  • Publication number: 20230362683
Abstract: Various approaches for Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) and Operator Platform (OP) systems, and management of applications and services in such systems, are discussed herein. An example system is configured to coordinate operations of a MEC system and an EDGEAPP system. The system performs lifecycle management (LCM) operations of MEC and EDGEAPP applications in an Operator Platform instance in an Operator Platform domain, enabling coordination of the MEC and EDGEAPP applications in their respective systems. The system receives application data from an application client of a user equipment (UE) associated with either the MEC system or the EDGEAPP system and transmits the application data to an application host associated with (e.g., executed on) the other system. The system thus enables LCM of respective apps and communications among MEC and EDGEAPP systems, enhancing the overall performance of an Operator Platform.

  • Publication number: 20220365866
Abstract: Emulation has become a critical method for the initial phase of verification and validation processes. However, achieving interoperability between emulation systems and ensuring credibility of results currently require significant efforts. This disclosure relates to a system and method for providing an emulation as a service (EaaS) framework for communication networks. The EaaS framework provides discoverable services that are readily available on-demand and deliver a choice of applications in a flexible and adaptive manner. The EaaS framework is used for discovery, composition, execution, and management of emulation services. The EaaS framework defines user-facing capabilities (front-end) and underlying core functional infrastructure (back-end). The front end provides access to a large variety of emulation capabilities from which the user is able to select the services and track the experiences.

  • Patent number: 10863531
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to telecommunication networks, and more particularly to a method and system for delay aware uplink scheduling in a communication network. The telecommunication network performs data uplink and data downlink associated with data communication between multiple transmitter-receiver pairs connected to the network, by using specific scheduling schema as part of the data processing. Disclosed are method and system for performing a delay-aware uplink scheduling in the communication network. For an uplink request received from a transmitter, the system estimates downlink delay at the corresponding receiver side. The system further estimates a processing delay for the received uplink request. Based on the estimated downlink delay and the processing delay, the system determines an uplink delay budget for the transmitter. Further, based on the uplink delay budget and an achievable data rate computed for the transmitter, the system schedules uplink for the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 10462825
Abstract: In LTE Random Access Channel (RACH) mechanism, devices use slotted ALOHA based protocol for RACH message exchange. During these messages exchange, if a device does not get a response from a base-station (BS), the device assumes that it is not able to reach base station due to insufficient transmission power and increases transmit power to reach to the base station. However, at higher density most of requests are lost due to collision. In existing RACH procedure, device unnecessarily ramps power in next RACH process which leads to power wastage in already resource constrained device. When there is failure of reception of RACH process, the present disclosure computes time delays (TD) based on a RSSI value obtained from a message transmitted by the BS, and initiates RACH process accordingly. The embodiments further enable requests transmission from device to BS by ramping power of the devices based on the computed TD.

  • Patent number: 10367701
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to provisioning network services in a cloud computing environment, and more particularly to framework for provisioning network services in a heterogeneous cloud computing environment. In one embodiment, the disclosure includes a network as a service (NaaS) layer under a cloud provisioning platform. The NaaS layer can be interfaced with any cloud provisioning platform. The NaaS layer serves the networking needs of the heterogeneous cloud environment. It provides network services like monitoring, notifications, QoS policies, network topology and other services. For example, the cloud provisioning platform defines a virtual network and attaches a plurality of virtual machines to it. All the communications related to creation/deletion/update of virtual networks, virtual subnets, virtual ports, virtual router, virtual interfaces etc., are sent to the NaaS layer.

  • Patent number: 10291474
Abstract: A method and system is provided for distributed optimal caching for information centric networking. The system and method disclosed herein enables each router/node in the network to make an independent decision to solve the optimization problem based upon a cost feedback from its neighbors. Content is received by a first router which determines if it should store the content in its cache based on a Characterizing Metrics (CM) value or send it to a neighbor router j, where the neighbor router j is selected based on a transaction cost determination. The node j on receiving the content shared with itself again performs similar computation to determine if the content should be stored in its cache. The method is performed iteratively for optimal distributed caching.

  • Patent number: 10255817
Abstract: A computer implemented system for providing robust communication links to unmanned aerial vehicles is envisaged. It comprises a plurality of nodes which communicate with each other and with an unmanned aerial vehicle to allow exchange of data. A 3D signal coverage model is created which determines signal coverage provided by the plurality of nodes. A navigator present in the system navigates the unmanned aerial vehicle to follow a stored flight path based on this 3D model. Waypoints present in the path of the unmanned aerial vehicle are then identified and suitable waypoints are selected from where sensed pre-stored data is collected. A suitable node is then selected based on the stored 3D signal coverage model, location of the unmanned aerial vehicle and the nodes, and the signal strength of the nodes and the collected data is transmitted to the suitable node through the unmanned aerial vehicle to provide robust communication.

  • Patent number: 10069929
Abstract: A technique for estimating cache size for cache routers in information centric networks (ICNs) is disclosed. In an example, an average rate of incoming requests and a probability of occurrence of each request at a cache router in a predefined time interval is determined. Further, a relation between cache hit and cache miss with and without replacement is derived based on the probability of occurrence of each request. Furthermore, an entropy of the requests is computed based on the probability of occurrence of each request. Moreover, a diversity index of the requests is calculated based on the entropy and the average rate of the requests. A cache size for the cache router is then estimated based on a user defined probability of cache hit, the average rate of the requests, the diversity index of the requests and the relation between the cache hit and cache miss with and without replacement.
