  • Publication number: 20230201022
Abstract: A method includes positioning a patient on a surgical support structure having a fixture. The method includes attaching, to a portion of a body of the patient, a first adhesive layer on a widened pad end of a surgical restraint device. The method includes extending an elongate strap member of the surgical restraint device in a direction in which the portion of the body of the patient is to be moved relative to a remaining portion of the body using tension in the elongate strap member. The method includes attaching an attachment end of the elongate strap member to the fixture of the surgical patient support structure to maintain the moved portion of the body in tension, exposing a surgical site on the body.

  • Publication number: 20210346073
Abstract: The present invention discloses a cable passer device and method for placement of a cerclage cable for internal fixation of bone. The device comprises a cannulated body including a proximal end, a straight portion, an arcuate portion, and a distal end. The straight portion extends from the proximal end, and the arcuate portion extends from the straight portion and ends at the distal end of the cannulated body. A continuous groove extends from the proximal end to the distal end through the straight portion and the arcuate portion of the cannulated body. The groove extends radially along an internal diameter of the cannulated body. An opening of the groove facilitates to receive the cerclage cable therein. The width of the opening remains the same throughout an entire length of the continuous groove. The groove includes varying angle to facilitate unimpeded movement of cerclage cable therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20210169152
Abstract: A configurable bra provides additional support and comfort to accommodate a wide variation in breast shapes and weights. The variations can arise from factors such as: (i) asymmetry; (ii) mastectomy; (iii) period changes; (iv) maternity changes; (v) breast feeding; and (vi) orthopedic inputs (e.g., weight distribution, center of gravity change, volume shift, etc.). In one or more embodiments, adjustments for circumference and amount of vertical lifting of the breasts is provided to handle different women or changes that occur for the same woman.

  • Publication number: 20200289334
Abstract: A medical bandage includes a bandage substrate having a portion designated to receive and underlie an arm of a patient as a non-sterile area. A flap attached longitudinally along one edge of the non-sterile area of the bandage substrate is positionable in: (i) an open position for insertion of the arm; and (ii) a closed position over top of the arm of the patient. The flap has an opening that exposes at least a forearm portion as a sterilizable area of the arm of the patient for therapeutic or diagnostic access to a blood vein. An inner adhesive layer is attached to an inner surface of the flap around the opening to releasably adhere to the arm of the patient. An access panel is sized to cover the opening. An outer adhesive layer attached to an outer surface releasably adheres to an outer annular area of the access panel.

  • Publication number: 20160008070
Abstract: An expandable and foldable mayo stand has a support column having first and second ends and a longitudinal axis. A table top is connected to the first end of the support column, and a base is connected to the second end of the support column. The table top is formed in two halves having a hinge connection extending along a hinge axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, whereby the table top halves can be pivoted between an open position in which they are coplanar and a collapsed position in which they are substantially parallel. The base has a central portion with wings hinged thereto; each wing has a plurality of legs connected to it by respective pin connections, so that the legs can be folded from a deployed configuration to a compact storage configuration.

  • Patent number: 8919555
Abstract: A needle storage device includes a base having a center post, and a tray disposed around the post. The tray has dividers defining multiple slots for receiving needles and other surgical instruments. A cover over the tray has an opening which exposes only one of those slots at a time. A needle other sharp device may be inserted through the opening into the slot below. The tray has a hub or button, exposed through a central opening in the cover, which can then be depressed and released to move the tray up and down between the base and the cover. A mechanism comprising teeth on both the tray and the cover angularly increments the tray beneath the opening, exposing a neighboring slot each time the tray is depressed.
