  • Patent number: 11950342
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the automated detection of a particular type of lighting fixture, where a given type may refer to a particular make and/or model of the lighting fixture, bulb quantity, bulb technology, power output rating, etc. The detection may be based on measured dimming curves of the lighting fixture, which may indicate actual power consumption at varying brightness levels of the lighting fixture. One or more power consumption models may be selected, generated, and/or refined based on the measured dimming curves, and applied to other lighting fixtures sharing similar attributes and/or under similar conditions. Based on such models, a given lighting fixture may be able to automatically detect anomalous behavior (e.g., excessive power consumption or less power consumption compared to expected power consumption) and automatically take remedial actions.

  • Patent number: 11509723
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the monitoring of one or more devices, such as Internet of Things (“IoT”) devices or other suitable types of devices, via one or more networks. The system may maintain readings associated with the IoT devices, and may identify a demand for a set of readings from a particular IoT device. The system may output a request to the particular IoT device. The request may indicate a maximum data size for a response to the request, as well as an indication of the latest time associated with readings received from the particular IoT device. The IoT device may respond with readings that were collected after the indicated latest time. The response may be restricted to the maximum data size. As such, the IoT device may refrain from providing a full set of readings that were collected after the indicated latest time.

  • Patent number: 11451437
Abstract: A system may provision a smart device to allow the smart device to communicate using a network and use at least one service of a management platform. A device identifier of the smart device may be stored in a data store accessible to the management platform. The smart device may send a message to the management platform that includes the device identifier, and in some implementations other information such as location information. The management platform may determine that the smart device has been provisioned, for example based on the device identifier or other information, and provide a service to the smart device from the management platform.

  • Patent number: 11172056
Abstract: A broker system dynamically adjusts data processing techniques used by a network gateway for forwarding data over a network from a client system to an exchange system based on a switch mode parameter. The broker system dynamically adjusts the network gateway from using an error-propagating data processing technique (e.g. cut-through switching) to a non-error-propagating data processing technique (e.g. store and forward switching) based on the switch mode parameter. In particular, the broker system may adjust the network gateway when a count of unsuccessfully validated protocol data units meets a threshold specified by the switch mode parameter. While using the error-propagating technique, the broker system may modify a portion of the data protocol unit corresponding to a transport layer of a network protocol used by the network when a protocol data unit is unsuccessfully validated.

  • Patent number: 7434041
Abstract: A verification infrastructure uses a verification tool with a user interface with which a user may interact to verify an application and/or its platform. The user may enter the same set of commands to verify instances of the application on different platforms. Furthermore, the verification tool is data driven in a way that allows the verification tool to be easily extended to new platforms. Finally, details of a particular configuration are stored persistently and are used by the verification tool to perform verification. Thus, much of the complex work of acquiring knowledge about the configuration and applying the knowledge to the results of various checks made for verification is performed by the verification tool and not a human user.

  • Patent number: 7299265
Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for managing a distributed computing system in which a plurality of services are provided by a plurality of members. Initially, one of the members of the system is elected as the global master for the system. Thereafter, the global master selects a service master (where a service master comprises a member of the system) for each of the services provided by the system, such that each service has an associated service master. Each service master may be selected based upon an associated set of service master selection criteria. Once selected, each service master manages requests for the service with which the service master is associated. In this manner, services and the requests for the services are effectively managed.
