  • Patent number: 10795652
Abstract: Disclosed herein are representative embodiments of tools and techniques for installing, executing, and/or updating managed applications through generation of native code from code in an intermediate language. According to one exemplary technique, a computing device receives machine dependent intermediate language code (MDIL code) generated by an online provider for an application. Additionally, the computing device installs the application on the computing device by generating a native image for the application, which includes binding a portion of the MDIL code with one or more libraries on the computing device. Also, the native image is stored on the computing device for use in loading the application for execution.

  • Patent number: 8069148
Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for improving configuration of database audits. Multiple audits can be created for a database. Any one of the audits can be turned off without impacting an operation of any remaining audits. Database audits can be ported from one database server instance to another. Database audit metadata is stored in a database separately from a database server instance to which the database is attached. The database can be detached from the database server instance and attached to a second database server instance, with the database audit metadata moving along with the database automatically. Any audits associated with the database audit metadata are automatically activated for the second database server instance. Database audits can be configured using a hierarchical model.

  • Patent number: 7506204
Abstract: A Dedicated Administrator Connection (DAC) for a database server is provided that allows a user with administrator privileges to connect to the database server when a connection by standard means fails. By allowing an administrator to connect to the server through the DAC, the administrator can resolve the issue despite the failure and bring back the server to a responsive state without requiring the server to be shut down and restarted. Additionally, support engineers, developers, etc. can use the DAC to diagnose a range of problems without the use of a debugger or requesting a repro while monitoring for issues.
