  • Patent number: 11043158
Abstract: Various systems and methods for managing graphics subsystems are described herein. A system for managing graphics subsystems of a compute device includes a display controller operable to: receive an indication that a first display of the compute device has been activated; enable a power management feature in a display controller, the power management feature to reduce power consumption of the display controller and associated components, and the power management feature to reduce graphics memory bandwidth usage; receive an indication that a second display has been activated with the first display; and maintain the power management feature for at least the first display.

  • Publication number: 20200326769
Abstract: An apparatus comprising an interface to receive a video signal transmitted by a video source device to a first port of a plurality of ports of a display; and a controller comprising circuitry, the controller to responsive to a detection that the video source device is to enter a standby mode, cause the display to enter a low power state; and upon waking from the low power state, scan the first port of the plurality of ports for a communication from the video source device and quiesce scanning of the remaining one or more ports of the plurality of ports of the display.

  • Patent number: 8842111
Abstract: Techniques are described that can be used to adjust a refresh rate of a display device. For example, the refresh rate change can be triggered by a user application for a variety of circumstances such as a change in power source from AC to DC or display of 24 frames per second (fps) video. Contents of a primary buffer can be copied to a dummy buffer and a display engine can read video from the dummy buffer to provide video to a display. The clock rate of a clock used to read out pixels can be adjusted using software commands. Video is written to another buffer and during a vertical blanking interval, the display engine reads frames from the another buffer instead of the dummy buffer.

For example, the refresh rate change can be triggered by a user application for a variety of circumstances such as a change in power source from AC to DC or display of 24 frames per second (fps) video. Contents of a primary buffer can be copied to a secondary buffer and a display engine can read video from the secondary buffer to provide video to a display. The clock rate of a clock used to read out pixels can be adjusted using software commands. Video is written to a third buffer and during a vertical blanking interval the display engine reads frames from the third buffer instead of the second buffer.
