    Abstract: Media, methods, and systems are provided for real-time updates of collaborative documents in a group-based communication system. Collaborative documents may allow for multiple users to simultaneously modify and edit a document. When a collaborative document is created, a server may create an ephemeral channel and an identifier for the collaborative document. As users connect to the collaborative document, the users may be assigned a temporary subscription to the collaborative document. Real-time events, such as indications that a user is typing, indications that a user is connected in the collaborative document, and changes to the collaborative document may be published to the user via the temporary subscription. When the user disconnects from the document, the real-time events may no longer be communicated.

    Abstract: Techniques for clustering a plurality of virtual space servers based on communication platform data are discussed herein. In some examples, a user may post a message to a virtual space of a communication platform. The communication platform may transmit the message to virtual space servers configured to manage the virtual space within which the message originated. In such examples, the communication platform may identify clusters of virtual space servers and determine within which cluster the corresponding virtual space server is located. Virtual space servers may be clustered based on attribute data associated with communication platform data. In some examples, the communication platform may send the message to the virtual space server which may send the message to subscribing gateway servers. Further, the gateways servers may send the message to the recipient client devices. The recipient client devices may display the message via a user interface of the communication platform.

    Abstract: Techniques for enabling system redundancy for group-based communication platforms are discussed herein. In some examples, a user may post a message to a virtual space of a communication platform. The communication platform may transmit the message to virtual space servers which manage the virtual space within which the message originated. In such examples, a virtual space may be associated with a plurality of geographically distributed virtual space servers. Based on the virtual space servers receiving the message, the virtual space servers may send the message to one or more gateway servers that are subscribed to the virtual space servers. Gateway servers may be connected to client devices associated with user profiles. Upon receiving the message from the virtual space servers, the gateways servers may send the message to the recipient client devices. The recipient client devices may display the message via a user interface of the communication platform.
