  • Publication number: 20080115902
Abstract: Fibrous stock is supplied by a paper or board machine headbox (1) between looped forming wires (11, 12). Water is removed in a two part first dewatering zone (Z1), the first part formed by a suction forming roll engaging a forming wire (12) and the second part formed by a fixed forming shoe engaging opposite a forming wire (11). The wires (11, 12) are guided so the first dewatering zone causes essentially non-pulsating dewatering in the stock. Water is removed in a second dewatering zone (Z2) formed by fixed dewatering blades (21) on the other side of the wires (11, 12) and supported against the stock therebetween (21) and on the opposite side of the wires (11, 12) by dewatering blades (24), loaded in a controlled manner against the fixed dewatering blades (21) at gaps (22) between these so that pulsating dewatering is caused in the second zone (Z2).

  • Patent number: 7364643
Abstract: Fibrous stock is supplied by a paper or board machine headbox (1) between looped forming wires (11, 12). Water is removed in a first dewatering zone (Z1) formed with a fixed forming shoe (3) having a curved surface against which a wire (12) is supported while the opposite wire (11) is unsupported in the area of the shoe (3). The wires (11, 12) are guided so the shoe (3) causes essentially non-pulsating dewatering in the stock.

  • Patent number: 7045036
Abstract: A method and assembly is disclosed for manufacturing a sized web of paper or paperboard, the method comprising the steps of first forming the web at a headbox (1) from a stock comprising at least water and fiber, then pressing the web for water drainage, and finally drying the web by heating. Size furnish is added to the web so that at least a portion of the overall amount of size is added to the web prior to initiating the drying of the web by heating, and at least a portion of the overall amount of size is applied to the web after initiating the drying of the web.

  • Publication number: 20060011319
Abstract: In a press section in a paper or board machine, the transfer of a web (W) is accomplished as a closed draw through the press section. The press section has at least three separate press nips (N1, N2, N3). In the first nip dewatering takes place on two sides. The closed draw of the web (W) through the press section is accomplished as a substantially straight run. The press nips each have their own fabric loops (20, 21; 30; 40, 41). The nips (N2, N3) following after the first nip (N1) have one water-receiving fabric (30, 40), which is placed in the nip (N2, N3) on the opposite side of the web (W) with respect to the other nip in the running direction of the web in the machine.
