Abstract: A portable, stowable beach mat chair and shelter that incorporates fabric-covered foam panels that are hinged together. The panels may be folded on one another and carried with an attached shoulder strap. Head, torso and leg zones are provided. A sun hood or bonnet may be deployed to provide shade over the head zone. The head zone and torso zone may be partially extended and held in the partially extended position by a restraint strap and buckle. In an infant version, pad extensions may be deployed by hinging them up at right angles to the pads to form soft restraints.
