A studio backend provides a user interface for designing magazine editions and enabling a user to select content sources to provide the edition content in magazine editions. Each layout template being associated with a specific type of a mobile device. The selected layout templates may be configured to define the display of edition content in magazine editions. The studio backend then sends the configured layout templates for the magazine editions to the plurality of mobile devices, where magazine editions may be displayed on mobile devices according to the configured layout templates and include the edition content for the magazine editions.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for efficient synchronization of magazine edition content on heterogeneous mobile devices are provided. Display screen information is obtained for a mobile device, including resolution and screen dimensions. Edition content changes for each magazine edition presented on the mobile device are determined based on the display screen information. Subscription information, edition summaries, edition design information and media library information specific to the edition content changes are each provided. When any of these portions of the edition content changes fails to synchronize, synchronization is continued with that portion that failed.

    Abstract: A system, computer-implemented method, and computer-readable medium manage access control for a magazine edition. A set of roles are assembled that correspond to a principal. Each role defines a set of rules that specify access permissions to the magazine edition, defined at an edition level, a section level and a post level. A set of user access permissions is built, based on the access permissions. An access request is received from the principal, wherein the access request requires a set of necessary access permissions to be granted, defined at an edition level, a section level and a post level. It is determined if the set of user access permissions provides the necessary access permissions. When the user access permissions provide the necessary access permissions, the access request is granted, and otherwise the necessary access permissions, the access request is denied.

In a method embodiment, a virtual pixel space is generated based on the configuration of a screen of a mobile device. Data structures that include the edition content in a plurality of items, and a template associated with the magazine edition are received. Display elements in the HTML document are generated by replacing the references from the template with corresponding portions of the edition content included in the items in the data structures. The edition content is generated, based on the display elements of the HTML document, on the virtual pixel space as to be rendered on the screen of the mobile device in the magazine edition.

A magazine edition profile is generated for each magazine edition based on the categories for each of the retrieved articles of the corresponding magazine edition. The categories of magazine edition profiles are compared to categories of a profile of a user, wherein the user profile is based on categories of articles viewed by the user. A magazine edition recommendation based on the comparing is provided for display to the user. The edition recommendation may be a link or section of shown in a view of magazine edition content on a mobile device of the user. A user may be provided a convenient way to subscribe to the recommended magazine edition. A personalized magazine edition recommendation of highest ranked articles may also be provided.

    Abstract: Collaboration space object model provides for a place consisting of rooms created by users interacting with a client browser. A skin (i.e., theme) may be used as template for creating places. PlaceBots (i.e., agents) provide for accessing, processing and managing data in a place. HTML may be dragged and dropped into a place, where it is parsed and corresponding place fields created. MS Excel or Word documents may be dragged and dropped into a place, which creates a corresponding form, and users may create new documents using that form. A place type comprising a template of an entire place, or collaboration space, may be used to create new places. Changes made to a place may be reported, subject to security controls, by selecting what's new. Task fields are provided allowing web browser creation of forms for work flow. Place enabled objects are provided for synchronous communications. A quick browse feature provides a simplified format for browser windows based on selection of HTML links.
