  • Patent number: 6980512
Abstract: A packet switching control system and method are described, for controlling a packet switched connection between a subscriber terminal and an end terminal identified by a connection endpoint identification in a communication network. A subscriber-specific screening list for a plurality of connection endpoint identifications is provided, wherein an subscriber-specific screening control of the packet switched connection is performed on the basis of the screening list. The screening list may contain detection point settings for an IN interrogation so as to provide an interworking function between the IN and the packet network. Moreover, the screening list may include a charging information to thereby define different charging parameters for packet connections to different connection endpoints. This enables the subscriber to define price limits for predetermined connections.

  • Patent number: 6865262
Abstract: To diversify the calculation of advice of charge, a price definition element (AoC-I) is maintained in a telecommunications system. In order to use the correct price definition element (AoC-I), an indication of the price definition element (AoC-I) to be used in calculating the advice of charge of a service is associated with the service. The advice of charge of the service is calculated by the indicated price definition element (AoC-I).

  • Patent number: 6721886
Abstract: A method, a system, a network element and an apparatus of a telecommunication system for preventing unauthorized use of a service. The method, in which a service request is received from a user and the service is generated by means of a service logic, is characterized in that to prevent unauthorized use of the service, authentication data is appended to the service logic, the user requesting the service is authenticated by means of the authentication data, and the service logic is executed only if the authentication succeeds.

  • Publication number: 20030152211
Abstract: In order to indicate a numbering plan to be used, an indicator is defined, by which a subscriber can indicate whether the subscriber's home numbering plan (203) or a serving network numbering plan (206) is used when routing a call. The indicator preferably indicates the use of the home numbering plan, in which case a telephone number without an indicator uses the serving network numbering plan.

  • Publication number: 20030152048
Abstract: A method for establishing a connection between a circuit-switched mobile station (MS) and a packet-switched switching element (MSC). A radio network controller (RNC) receives a first initiation signal (an attach request) from the mobile station (MS) via a circuit-switched connection. The RNC opens a signaling connection for the mobile station. While the signaling connection is active, the RNC receives a second initiation signal (call setup) and opens a real-time connection for the mobile station. Thus the packet-switched switching element (MSC) is able to switch a real-time connection to/from the circuit-switched mobile station (MS).

  • Publication number: 20030026232
Abstract: A method for reserving quality of service (QoS) in a wireless telecommunication system, which comprises at least one mobile station, a support node serving the mobile station, and a data terminal communicating with the mobile station. QoS is reserved and maintained by transmitting path messages and reservation messages between QoS protocol entities of the mobile station and the data terminal. When reserving QoS, data at least on the first path and reservation messages is stored in the mobile station and the support node. The mobile station and the support node drop, on the basis of the stored data, the next messages corresponding to the first path and reservation messages to be transmitted between the mobile station and the data terminal. The mobile station and the support node transmit messages corresponding to the first path and reservation messages periodically to the QoS protocol entities of the mobile station and the data terminal on the basis of the stored data.

  • Publication number: 20020181448
Abstract: In a packet radio network a packet data address is activated for a terminal for transmitting data packets between the terminal and an external network. Information on the activated packet data address is stored at least in the edge nodes of the network. To prevent spoofing, i.e. misrepresentation of sender data, the method and network node of the invention comprise checking (206) in the node whether the source address of the packet transmitted from the terminal is the same as the packet data address used in the transmission of the packet or does the source address belong to a set of allowed packet data addresses. The packet is transmitted (207) from the node towards the destination address only if the addresses are identical or the source address belongs to the set of allowed packet data addresses.

  • Publication number: 20020176379
Abstract: The presentation of information identifying a calling user of a terminal device (MS-A) to a called terminal device (MS-B) in a communication involving a radio access network is triggered upon receipt of an incoming call; if triggered, the information is presented to a user at a man machine interface (MMI) of the terminal device; a user input is collected via the man machine interface (MMI) in response to the presentation, and the received call is controlled according to the collected user input. It becomes advantageously possible to initiate a retrieval procedure for calling party identifying information while the call is being controlled by a service control device and prior to the routing of the call to the called terminal device.

  • Publication number: 20020091797
Abstract: A method for providing a user interface between a terminal device (MS) and a communication network (IN-NW) configures intelligent network services. The network (IN-NW) includes a service control entity (SCP) and a server entity (WAP-SERVER) communicating with each other via an interface (WAP-I/F). The SCP is connected to at least one service switching device (SSP) establishing communication via at least one access network (BSS) with the terminal device (MS). The MS is provided with a browsing means (WAP-UA) adapted to communicate with a user of the MS via a man machine interface (MMI) and with the WAP-SERVER. Content constituting a user interface is provided for the control of a multiple subscriber profiles (MSP) feature with the user interacting with the content. The state of the MSP is modified in accordance with the interaction.

  • Publication number: 20020090950
Abstract: A service associated with a call terminating at a subscriber can be triggered from a network node serving the subscriber when the subscriber is registered in the network and has a serving network node. In order to trigger the service also when the subscriber is not registered in the network, the network is provided with a service function which triggers the service for the subscriber when the subscriber is not registered in the network; and the call terminating at the subscriber is routed (3-2, 3-3) to this service function when the subscriber is not registered in the network.

  • Publication number: 20020068591
Abstract: A method and system for collecting an information from a user of a mobile telecommunication network is described, wherein a parser is introduced into a mobile terminal such that a coded information request message can be transmitted in a data message, such as a USSD message. The parser interprets the message and acquires all information from the user. Thus, a fast and user-friendly solution for information collection from a subscriber is provided. The parser generates a coded response message containing all required information and may perform a validity check for the information received from the user. Thereby, a round-trip is avoided if the user entered an invalid information. Accordingly, all required information can be collected by a single round-trip of the data message.

  • Publication number: 20020019237
Abstract: Users in a telecommunication system will probably change every now and then the mobile terminals they are using. A new mobile terminal does not necessarily comprise the service components that are required by the services the user has subscribed. In the arrangements according to the invention, service components provided in a mobile terminal are compared (303) with the components required in the services the subscriber has subscribed to, and if a service component is missing from the mobile terminal, a procedure for loading the component is activated. In this manner the mobile terminal can be provided with the services the user has subscribed to without the user having to be aware of the service components that are provided and required in the mobile terminal.
