  • Patent number: 10021021
Abstract: Systems for routing data over first and second broadband network. A router includes a first network interface that is configured to provide communication via a first broadband channel. There is a second network interface configured to enable communication via second broadband channel. In various embodiments, the first and second broadband channels may be used to provide failover, load balancing, and/or secure transmission of communication data.

  • Patent number: 9998285
Abstract: A method and system of securing the firmware of a router. Upon determining that a received digital message does not have integrity or the digital signature of the received digital message is not correct, the digital message is ignored or discarded. Otherwise the digital message is decrypted and a new firmware extracted therefrom. The existing firmware is then flashed with the new extracted firmware.

  • Patent number: 9992065
Abstract: Routers that are provided by a wireless communication carrier to users may be selectively provisioned with different router updates. A server may receive a router update request for a router. The router may be offered by a wireless carrier network for providing Wi-Fi calling to user devices. The server may retrieve a router profile for the router from a router profile database of the wireless carrier network based on a router identifier included in the router update request. The server may determine whether a router update for the router is available from a router update store of the wireless carrier network based on one or more router parameters in the router profile. The server may distribute the router update to the router in response to a router update being available from the router update store of the wireless carrier network.

  • Patent number: 9979667
Abstract: Systems and methods provide for traffic prioritization in a Wi-Fi router which may have separate private and public networks. A software prioritization engine component may inspect incoming data packets, may assign a priority value to each packet according to prioritization rules, and may distribute each packet into an output queue accordingly. A probing functionality may measure router uplink. A rate limiter may dynamically allocate bandwidth to output queues according to bandwidth allocation rules. The prioritization rules and bandwidth allocation rules may favor emergency data, voice call data, private Wi-Fi network data, and data relating to a particular cellular network.

  • Publication number: 20170295281
Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting traditional landline telephones to make and receive Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls and other communications are described. In some embodiments, an adapter, adaptor, or other device or apparatus connects an IP router, such as a WiFi router or other access point, to a traditional landline telephone (e.g., a phone using dual-tone multi-frequency, or DTMF, signaling), enabling the traditional landline phone to make and/or receive VoIP calls.

  • Publication number: 20170187688
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to increase security of a wireless access point (WAP). In embodiments, a cellular network provider has an arrangement with an owner of a WAP for cellular network customers to connect to the Internet through that WAP. The WAP may broadcast a SSID for cellular network customers only when a virtual private network (VPN) is established between the WAP and a server of the cellular network provider. If the VPN disconnects, then the WAP stops broadcasting this SSID until the VPN is re-established.

  • Publication number: 20170187639
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for aggregating bandwidth from multiple sources. In embodiments, a user device, such as a cellular telephone, may have a communications channel established with both a cellular tower and a wireless access point (WAP). When the user device transmits data, this data transmission may be divided between the multiple communications channels concurrently, so as to utilize the combined bandwidth of the multiple channels. Each communication channel may be prioritized, such as by prioritizing using the cellular channel until it is at capacity, and then using the WAP channel.

  • Patent number: 8774148
Abstract: A method and system for selectively provisioning connections between an access point, which supports telecommunications services over an IP network, and a carrier network includes a network connection and a telephone connector suitable for connecting to a landline telephone, a cordless telephone, or a mobile device. The access point sends a provisioning request, which includes identifying information such as a subscriber identifier and a MAC address, to a network controller. The network controller attempts to find a geographic, street, or other address associated with the connection to be provisioned. If an address is not found, the network controller rejects the connection and sends a missing information notification to the access point. After receiving the missing information notification, the access point controls a user indicator to provide error information.
