  • Patent number: 11915215
Abstract: In example embodiments, a system and method for managing the resale of digital media rights is provided. In example embodiments, user accounts that store digital media rights for digital content may be maintained. An indication that a first user having a first user account intends to transfer digital media rights for a particular digital content may is received. A verification process is performed to verify that the digital media rights of the first user are transferable. Based on an indication that a transaction has occurred, the digital media rights are transferred from the first user account to a second user account associated with a second user that is a recipient of the digital media rights.

  • Publication number: 20230142959
Abstract: A bone plate incorporating a length adjusting elongate hole formed in a shaft portion thereof, along with corresponding methods of use. In one embodiment, the length adjusting elongate hole is configured to receive one or more bone fixation devices (e.g., bone screws). In use, the bone fixation device positioned within the length adjusting elongate hole may be partially loosened, without removal, to enable the patient's bone to be adjusted (e.g., loosening the bone fixation device within the length adjusting elongate hole allows the surgeon to adjust the position of the patient's bone, and hence the bone fixation device coupled thereto, relative to the bone plate). Once properly adjusted, the bone fixation device positioned within the length adjusting elongate hole may be retightened. In various embodiments, the length adjusting elongate hole is configured so that, in use, each of the plurality of bone fixation openings remains available to a surgeon.

  • Publication number: 20230036585
Abstract: The present invention relates to the discovery that the expression levels of some RNA molecules, comprising messenger RNA (mRNA), non-coding RNA (ncRNA) and/or microRNA (miRNA), and protein can be used as a diagnostic signature to predict or monitor the bone healing ability in an acutely injured subject or in a chronic nonunion subject. In certain embodiments, the invention relates to methods and compositions useful for differentiating between a nonunion, slow healing, and/or normal healing of a fractured bone and treatment recommendations. The invention further includes a kit comprising biomarker probes for assessing the bone healing ability in an acutely injured subject or in a nonunion subject after receiving therapeutic treatment.

  • Patent number: 11532002
Abstract: A blockchain platform is provided for creating original non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and prints of the original NFTs. The platform creates a market for purchasing and selling prints of the original NFTs. The purchase price and the sale price for a print is determined based on a bonding curve and a total supply of the prints of the original NFT. The platform may also generate content (e.g., artwork and/or music) associated with the original NFTs. The content may be generated from logic that is stored on the blockchain.

  • Publication number: 20220395303
Abstract: Periprosthetic bone fixation plates are disclosed including, for example, periprosthetic proximal femur plate, periprosthetic distal femur plate, periprosthetic humerus plate, periprosthetic ring plate, and periprosthetic troch plate. In use, the periprosthetic bone fixation plates are arranged and configured for use in periprosthetic fractures. That is, the periprosthetic plates include one or more features to facilitate positioning and securement of the bone fixation plate to a patients bone that previously received a surgically implanted orthopedic device or implant such as, for example, an intramedullary nail, a hip prosthesis, a knee prosthesis, etc. In use, the one or more features are designed and configured to facilitate avoidance of the previous surgically implanted orthopedic device or implant. In addition, the periprosthetic bone fixation plates are arranged and configured to facilitate plating of a longer working length as compared to existing bone fixation plates (e.g.

  • Patent number: 11012658
Abstract: An improved user premises device enhances the channel change experience. In response to a channel-up or a channel-down command, a currently displayed program is re-sized to fit within a smaller program window. In the display area that is exposed due to the re-sizing of the currently displayed program, additional content such as an advertisement or channel change progress information is displayed. Additional program windows that render snapshots of content from one or more program up and one or more program down may be displayed in windows that are organized in a vertical alignment with the program window of the currently displayed program. The program windows are animated or scrolled in a direction to bring the program window of the user-desired next program in place of the program window of the currently displayed programmed. The program window of the next program is then resized to occupy the entire display.

  • Publication number: 20070189514
Abstract: Computer- and network-based methods and systems for transmission-based billing are provided. Example embodiments provide a Packet-Based Billing System (“PBBS”), which enables application providers, such as carriers and content providers, to bill subscribers for the use of content on mobile subscriber devices, such as wireless devices, on a per-application, per-user basis based upon the extent of the usage. Embodiments of the present invention can also be used to bill subscribers for the use of content on a per-application, per-user basis for wired subscriber devices as well, using the same techniques. In operation, the PBBS provides modified content by inserting billing and tracking code into content returned to a requesting device. The modified content, when executed, tracks the amount of data sent and received between the content and a network and posts the accumulated data to a proxy/billing server according to business rules for an interval/frequency to post such data.

  • Publication number: 20060140144
Abstract: A method and apparatus provides an open services gateway initiative (OSGi) bundle over the air to a wireless mobile device by obtaining data representing an OSGi bundle in the form of a JAVA archive (JAR) file (802), such as from a trusted authority, or any other suitable source, and generates, for sending to the wireless mobile device, a MIDlet wrapped OSGi bundle (712) that contains data representing a MIDP JAR file (900) containing the OSGi bundle (902) and a corresponding MIDlet (904) operative to invoke an OSGi bundle provisioning application interface (API) (804) on the wireless mobile device to install said bundle. The method may be carried out for example by a network element, or any other suitable element or elements. In one example, a standard MIDP server sends the MIDlet wrapped OSGi bundle to the wireless mobile device since it is in a suitable MIDP format although it contains an OSGi bundle.

  • Patent number: 6996831
Abstract: A method and system for allowing a PERL application to communicate with distributed objects. One embodiment comprises a method in which first an adapter program receives a request from a PERL application. The PERL request specifies a distributed object with which the PERL application desires to communicate. The adapter program translates the request from the PERL application. For example, the adapter program translates PERL data structures into a format which is compliant with a communication program. Then, the adapter program calls the communication program to access the distributed object via Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). After the adapter program receives a response from the communication program, the adapter translates the response to a form suitable for the PERL application. For example, the adapter program may need to translate a data structure into a PERL compliant form. Then, the adapter program passes the response to the PERL application.

  • Patent number: 6941291
Abstract: A method and device for providing access, via a single point, to information stored on multiple data sources. One embodiment comprises a method in which first an interface (port) receives a call specifying a user identifier and a set of information from an application program. The set of information comprises a number of fields, where the fields correspond to information which is physically stored over a number of databases. Next, the method determines the location of the fields of information corresponding to the user identifier. Next, using the identifier which the application program passed in, the method retrieves the information. For example, the method may first retrieve information corresponding to a first field from a first database. Then, the method may retrieve information corresponding to a second field from a second database. Then, the method provides the information to the application program.
