  • Patent number: 4337787
Abstract: For work vehicles, for example, cold weather can be a problem. Disengaging the vehicle clutch (26) aids starting by reducing engine loads during starting. Where the clutch (26) is hydraulically actuated, it can be disengaged by keeping fluid pressures below required engagement pressure when supplying other elements common to the clutch hydraulic circuit. Apparatus is provided which during starting directs fluid to, for example, pump drive bearings (20) at less than clutch engagement pressure. An input signal to the apparatus from the vehicle operator after engine start-up then builds pressure to activate the clutch (26) while continuing to supply the pump drive bearings (20) for lubrication. Upon a preselected fluid flow to the apparatus, such as at engine shutdown, the apparatus automatically returns to the condition at which available pressure levels are less than required for clutch engagement.

  • Patent number: 4327549
Abstract: An improvement is disclosed in a hydraulic system (10) having a variable displacement pump (12) and being capable of delivering pressurized fluid from the pump (12) to selectively engage at least three work circuits (18) with a first (20) of the circuits (18) being normally operable up to a first pressure and a second (22) of the circuits (18) being normally operable up to a second and lower pressure. The improvement comprises circuitry (80, 92, 94, 98, 108, 120, 122, 124, 126) for selectively operating a third (24) of the circuits (18) at one of the first or second pressures or at an upstaged pressure which exceeds the first pressure and circuitry (128) for reducing the displacement of the pump (12) in response to the third circuit (24) being operated at the upstaged pressure. Such upstaged pressure is available in a controlled manner for working against particularly heavy loads. Thus, a third and higher operating level is added to a system which already operates at at least two pressure levels.

  • Patent number: 4128827
Abstract: A switch connected to a power source is closed automatically in response to a vehicle being conditioned for travel and is opened in response to the vehicle being stopped. First and second apparatuses deliver first and second electrical signals, respectively, to a switching device in response to the switch being closed. The switching device is rendered conductive for connecting the power source to an alarm for energizing the alarm when either one or both of the first and second signals is delivered thereto. The switching device is rendered nonconductive for deenergizing the alarm in response to neither of the signals being present. A timer stops delivery of the first signal to the switching device only after the first signal has been delivered to the switching device for a predetermined period of time. A manual override is provided for manually selectively stopping delivery of the second signal to the switching device.

  • Patent number: 4123907
Abstract: A pressure control valve is connected to selectively supply a control pressure signal to shift a relief valve from a first low pressure mode to a second higher pressure mode and for simultaneously supplying the control pressure signal to an associated variable displacement pump for reducing the relatively high output of the pump to a relatively lower output.

  • Patent number: 4006667
Abstract: A load supporting hydraulic system having a pilot operated main control valve is provided with pilot controlled load check valve operative to permit free flow of fluid from said control valve toward the load supporting means of the system in response to pilot pressure and to block fluid flow from the load supporting means toward the control valve. The system includes vent valve means operative with the main control valve to permit the load check valve to be opened by fluid pressure in the load supporting means to allow fluid flow therefrom to the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 3943825
Abstract: A load supporting hydraulic system having a pilot operated main control valve is provided with pilot controlled load check valve operative to permit free flow of fluid from said control valve toward the load supporting means of the system in response to pilot pressure and to block fluid flow from the load supporting means toward the control valve. The system includes valve means operative independent of the main control valve to permit the load check valve to be opened by fluid pressure in the load supporting means to allow fluid flow therefrom to the reservoir. The system further includes safety valve means for blocking fluid flow to pilot control means.
