  • Patent number: 9357306
Abstract: A method comprising: generating at least one audio signal to be output by at least one speaker for a multi-speaker system; receiving at least two output signals, the at least two output signals provided by at least two microphones and based on the at least one acoustic wave output by the at least one speaker in response to the at least one audio signal; determining a directional component associated with the at least two output signals; and comparing the directional component with an expected location of the at least one speaker.

  • Publication number: 20160088439
Abstract: The invention relates to controlling the operation of a communication system. The method according to the invention comprises measuring (910) positions of devices of a group; determining (930) a sequence based on the measured positions; and controlling (940) operation of one or more devices of a group based on said sequence. The communication system may be used e.g. for playing games.

  • Publication number: 20160021477
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to facilitate spatial audio capture by utilizing multiple audio recording devices. In the context of a method, spatial characteristics of sound recorded by a first device are determined. The method also mapping, with a processor, sound recorded by a second device to a location and orientation of the first device. As such, the spatial characteristics of the sound recorded by the second device are modified to match the spatial characteristics of the sound recorded by the first device.

  • Publication number: 20150289124
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method includes scanning, by an apparatus, for wireless messages associated with presence of other wireless devices including a first wireless device to which the apparatus is connected over a wireless connection; maintaining, by the apparatus, measured signal strength of wireless messages received from the connected first wireless device; detecting, by the apparatus, a second wireless message from a second wireless device, while connected to the first wireless device; comparing, by the apparatus, a measured signal strength of the second wireless message, with the maintained signal strength associated with the first wireless device; and switching, by the apparatus, the connection from the first wireless device to the second wireless device when the measured signal strength of the second wireless message is greater than the maintained signal strength associated with the first wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20140376728
Abstract: It is inter alia disclosed to check whether an audio signal captured from an environment of the apparatus comprises arriving sound from an audio source of interest, and to provide a direction identifier being indicative on the direction of the arriving sound from the audio source of interest via a user interface when said check yields a positive result.

  • Publication number: 20140379108
Abstract: A method comprising: receiving at least one audio channel signal; receiving at least one user interface input; generating a visualisation of the at least one audio channel signal dependent on the at least one user interface input; and rendering the at least one audio channel signal to generate a rendered audio signal dependent on the at least one user interface input wherein the rendered audio channel signal is substantially synchronised with the visualisation of the at least one audio channel signal.

  • Publication number: 20140337741
Abstract: A method includes determining, using signals captured from two or more microphones (1A) configured to detect an acoustic signal from one or more sound sources, one or more prominent sound sources based on the one or more sound sources (1C-1D). The method further includes determining one or more directions relative to a position of one or more of the two or more microphones for the one or more prominent sound sources (1B-1D). The method includes modifying one or more user interface elements displayed on a user interface of a display to provide an indication at least in part of the one or more directions, relative to position of at least one microphone, of the one or more prominent sound sources (1G).

  • Publication number: 20140329511
Abstract: The invention relates to audio conferencing. Audio signals are received and transformed to a spectrum, and then modified by mel-frequency scaling and logarithmic scaling before a second-order transform. The obtained coefficients can be further processed before carrying out the similarity comparison between signals. Voice activity detection and other information like mute signalling can be used in the formation of the similarity information. The resulting similarity information can be used to form groups, and the resulting groups can be analyzed topologically. The similarity information can then be used to form a control signal for audio conferencing, e.g. to control an audio conference so that a signal of a co-located audio source is removed.
