Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided in a computer network to present marketing and other pertinent information to clients from a host. The client environment is interrogated locally using a profiling engine. A customer class generated by a profiling engine on the customer server controls a URL behind an inquiry tab presented in a client user interface. When the user clicks on the tab they are taken to a portal designed by a host marketing team specifically designed for customers belonging to the customer class designated by the profiling engine. Using the method and apparatus of the present application, direct, cost effective marketing materials are delivered to customers without sending any customer information through the customer firewall back to the host.

Abstract: A system and method for sending a message containing a data object, comprising forming a second data object based upon the first data object, the second message being stored in a storage device, forming a second message based upon a first message the second message containing a reference to the storage location of the second data object and sending the second message to a recipient. The determination to store and defer sending message content may be based upon a comparison of the size of the first data object size to a pre-determined threshold. The threshold may be set at a local or enterprise level. Further analysis of the second data object may be performed to determine if the data object is to be distributed to the recipient.

Abstract: A system enables multimedia messages, such as audio messages, to accompany print jobs sent from a remote workstation to a central printer. Each print job includes the data to be printed, job ticket data, and multimedia data. The job ticket data is maintained on a queue, and when the job is ready to be printed, the multimedia data is activated.

Abstract: In a network wherein a plurality of independent computers having various page description languages (PDL's) interface with a central printer through a plurality of lines, a system allows the user or administrator of a computer on each line to elect whether the line shall have the property of persistence of a PDL for all jobs coming through the line, or whether a new PDL shall be activated as necessary depending on the particular line.

Abstract: A network printing system have plural printers for making prints, with some of the printers having different job processing capabilities; plural client inputs providing electronic documents and printing instructions that comprise each print job; and dialog filtering to enable the program selections on a universal job ticket to be edited in accordance with the processing capabilities of each individual printer.
