  • Publication number: 20190047883
Abstract: A method of reducing the concentration of dissolved selenium in water includes introducing water having solid selenium-containing particles and a metal that bonds with selenium into a vessel and precipitating a metal-selenium compound from the water. A method of reducing the concentration of dissolved selenium or reducing dissolution of dissolved selenium, including providing a source of electrons into the water to precipitate dissolved selenium compounds is also disclosed. The precipitated compounds are separated from the water to produce decontaminated water. A system for reducing the concentration of dissolved selenium or reducing dissolution of dissolved selenium is also disclosed. The system includes a vessel fluidly connectable to a water source, at least one solid metal source, and a source of electrical voltage electrically connectable to the metal source.

  • Publication number: 20180317820
Abstract: Devices associated with on-body analyte sensor units are disclosed. These devices include any of packaging and/or loading systems, applicators and elements of the on-body sensor units themselves. Also, various approaches to connecting electrochemical analyte sensors to and/or within associated on-body analyte sensor units are disclosed. The connector approaches variously involve the use of unique sensor and ancillary element arrangements to facilitate assembly of separate electronics assemblies and sensor elements that are kept apart until the end user brings them together.

  • Patent number: 8413418
Abstract: A gas turbine engine (10) having a pressure-rise combustor (30) and the pressure-rise combustor (30) is positioned upstream of a stage of turbine nozzle guide vanes (32). The vanes (33) of the stage of turbine nozzle guide vanes (32) forms an ejector and each of the vanes (33) has an upstream portion (34) and a downstream portion (36). The upstream portions (34) of the vanes (33) have leading edges (38) and the upstream portions (34) are arranged substantially straight and parallel to define constant area mixing passages (40) for a flow of gases there-through. The downstream portions (36) of the vanes (33) are arranged at an angle to the upstream portions (34) of the vanes (33) to turn the flow of gases there-through.
