  • Patent number: 5240502
Abstract: An improvement is provided in a coating system including a dispenser, a coating outlet for delivering a coating material to a surface of a moving workpiece to which coating is to be applied in a desired pattern, and a dispensing control for producing control signals in a predetermined fashion for initiating and terminating the release of coating material to the outlet. The improvement includes a wiping member selectively advanceable and retractable relative to the coating outlet for wiping excess coating material therefrom and a cleaning control responsive to predetermined control signals from the dispensing control for advancing and retracting the wiping member in a predetermined fashion.

  • Patent number: 4194041
Abstract: A waterproof article for use in, for example, protective clothing. The article prevents liquid water from penetrating through to undergarments while at the same time permitting moisture vapor such as perspiration to pass out through the article. The article is thus both breathable and waterproof. The article is layered: a microporous hydrophobic outer layer which permits the passage of moisture vapor but resists penetration by liquid water at pressures up to about 345 Kn/m.sup.2 ; a hyrophilic inner layer permitting the transfer of moisture vapor but preventing surface tension lowering agents such as those contained in perspiration and/or body oils from reaching the hydrophobic layer.

  • Patent number: 4121957
Abstract: A pour urethane foam mixture is deposited on a thin porous non-woven fiberglass mat through which it is driven by an eccentric hexagonal beater bar. The space below the mat is limited by a second mat through which the uncured foam mixture penetrates to a lesser extent. The foam-penetrated pair of mats are led through an oven which accelerates curing of the urethane into reinforced boardstock having a precise thickness, a smooth upper surface and a uniform bottom surface that is cast onto a release surface or bonded to a flexible backing sheet such as paper or rigid substrate.

  • Patent number: 3960998
Abstract: A method for making a panel of plastic foam includes first coating a flexible ribbon on one side with foam and immediately thereafter while the foam is soft and flowable, laying the ribbon on a form with the foam coated side against the form. Length after length of the foam coated ribbon is laid on the form side by side in courses sufficiently close in order that the foam coating flow and cohere together on the form and thereafter the foam cures providing a panel of foam having the shape of the form.
