  • Patent number: 11584885
Abstract: A method of tailoring the properties of garnet-type scintillators to meet the particular needs of different applications is described. More particularly, codoping scintillators, such as Gd3Ga3Al2O12, Gd3Ga2Al3O12, or other rare earth gallium aluminum garnets, with different ions can modify the scintillation light yield, decay time, rise time, energy resolution, proportionality, and/or sensitivity to light exposure. Also provided are the codoped garnet-type scintillators themselves, radiation detectors and related devices comprising the codoped garnet-type scintillators, and methods of using the radiation detectors to detect gamma rays, X-rays, cosmic rays, and particles having an energy of 1 keV or greater.

  • Patent number: 10830469
Abstract: Humidifiers can include a liquid tank removably attachable to a base portion. The liquid tank can include an upper connector configured to engage a lower connector of the base portion when the liquid tank and the base portion are attached. The liquid tank can include a touch interface configured to receive a touch input from outside of the liquid tank and a liquid level sensor configured to output a signal representative of a level of liquid in the liquid tank. The base portion can include a controller that is in electrical communication with the liquid level sensor and the touch interface when the upper connector engages the lower connector. The controller can be configured to adjust operation of the humidifier based on signals received from the touch interface and can receive signals from the liquid level sensor representative of the amount of liquid in the liquid tank.

  • Patent number: 10564044
Abstract: Embodiments include a thermometer for measuring a temperature of a living being, including inside a cavity or on an external surface of the living being. The thermometer includes a temperature sensing probe coupled to the proximal end of the housing, a power source, light source, and processor. The light source can be configured to illuminate a portion of the housing near the temperature sensing probe. In some embodiments, the light source is configured to emit light in a plurality of colors. At least one of the plurality of colors may be indicative of a pre-measurement state. Some of the plurality of colors can be indicative of a specific temperature range. In some embodiments, the processor is operatively coupled to the power source, the temperature sensing probe, and the light source.

  • Publication number: 20190041086
Abstract: Humidifier and related method embodiments and disclosed herein. A humidifier includes a base, a fluid column, a liquid tank, a lid, and a sealing assembly. The base has a liquid reservoir and is configured to generate mist. The fluid column is in fluid communication with the liquid reservoir and selectively in fluid communication with an ambient atmosphere to deliver mist to the ambient atmosphere. The liquid tank is coupled to the base and defines an interior volume. The liquid tank is configured to provide liquid to the liquid reservoir. The lid is selectively sealed to the fluid column and covers the liquid tank. The sealing assembly is coupled to the fluid column. The sealing assembly is configured, upon actuation, to both seal the fluid column from the ambient atmosphere to prevent delivery of mist to the ambient atmosphere and unseal the lid from the fluid column.

  • Publication number: 20190041084
Abstract: Humidifier and related method embodiments are disclosed herein. A humidifier includes a liquid tank, a reservoir, a liquid atomizer, a valve, and a controller. The liquid tank defines a first interior volume, the reservoir is in liquid communication with the first interior volume, and the liquid atomizer is located in the reservoir. The valve is configured to actuate between a closed position and an opened position. The closed position prevents liquid communication between the first interior volume and the reservoir. The opened position allows liquid communication between the first interior volume and the reservoir. The controller is coupled to the valve and configured to selectively actuate the valve between the closed position and the opened position.

  • Publication number: 20190041075
Abstract: Techniques for operating and controlling humidifiers are disclosed. A system may include a cloud-based application, a humidifier including a tank to hold liquid to be atomized by the humidifier, a transducer to atomize liquid, a fan, at least one sensor, a network adapter, and a processor. The processor is operable to receive sensor data from the at least one sensor and transmit, to the cloud-based application via the network adapter, the received data. The system may a computing device that presents, via a display of the computing device, a user interface to interact with the humidifier via the cloud-based application.
