  • Publication number: 20230137586
Abstract: A control arrangement of a wind turbine includes a watchdog including a reset module and a trigger module, wherein the watchdog reset module is configured to perform an internal reset when a sign-of-life signal is received from a remote communication system within a predetermined time limit, and wherein the watchdog trigger module is configured to issue a watchdog trigger when the predetermined time limit is exceeded; a sensor arrangement including a number of sensors configured to observe local parameters and to report local sensor data; and a wind turbine controller that initiates a local control sequence in response to the watchdog trigger, which local control sequence is configured to switch between a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation on the basis of the local sensor data. A method of operating a wind turbine is further provided.

  • Publication number: 20230075813
Abstract: A wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine includes a wind rotor and a generator, mechanically coupled to the wind rotor. The wind turbine is configured to operate in a first mode of operation and in a second mode of operation, wherein, in the second mode of operation, the wind rotor is oriented in an opposite direction relative to a wind direction compared with the first mode of operation. The generator of the wind turbine is configured to generate power both in the first mode of operation and in the second mode of operation. Furthermore, a corresponding method of operating a wind turbine is provided.

  • Publication number: 20230077000
Abstract: A system for monitoring gas composition in a surgical cavity during an endoscopic surgical procedure includes an gas recirculation system including a main gas flow circuit for fluid communication with a surgical cavity. The system includes a sensor for monitoring a gas species in a gas flow from a surgical cavity of a patient. The sensor is positioned in a channel branching off from the main gas flow circuit coming from the surgical cavity.

  • Publication number: 20230066258
Abstract: A method of mitigating a vibration of a wind turbine not receiving power from to a utility grid includes: receiving power from an energy storage system of the wind turbine; utilizing the power received from the energy storage system: to detect a wind direction and to adjust an orientation of the rotor axis of a rotor shaft, if a criterion is satisfied taking into account at least the relative orientation of the rotor axis and the detected wind direction and/or taking into account a level of the vibration.

  • Publication number: 20060283594
Abstract: A multi-functional apparatus and method for drilling fluid and cementing operations to set casing in a wellbore for use on either top drive or rotary type rigs. The apparatus and method includes a fill-up and circulating tool, a cementing head assembly, a wiper plug assembly, and a push plate assembly. The fill-up and circulating tool comprises a mandrel with a sealing element disposed about the outside diameter of the mandrel. The cementing head, push plate, and wiper plug assemblies are useable on any fill-up and circulating tool capable of being inserted into a casing. To fill the casing, the assembly is lowered from the rig such that a portion of the fill-up tools inserted into the casing, the pumps are then actuated to flow fluid into the casing. To circulate fluid, the tool is lowered further such that the sealing element sealingly engages the inside diameter of the casing to allow fluid to flow through the casing, into the wellbore, and back to the fluid pumps.

  • Publication number: 20060053977
Abstract: A downhole component handling apparatus and method for making up and breaking out a series of threaded connections for downhole components functionally oriented in a horizontal mode, away from a wellbore. The apparatus includes a plurality of tri-axial alignment structures for selectively leveling and positioning downhole components in a horizontal orientation with respect to a datum axis of a power tong system. The power tong system is configured for more effectively making up threaded connections of a series of downhole components for ready installation downhole into a wellbore or breaking out a series of threadedly connected downhole components for disassembly.

  • Publication number: 20060054331
Abstract: An apparatus and method for making up and breaking out the threaded connection of a drill bit and bottomhole assembly away from a drilling rig wellbore. The apparatus includes a housing structure adapted for releaseably securing a drill bit and thereby preventing rotation of the drill bit during make up or break out of the drill bit and a bottomhole component. A back up wrench positions and grips the housing structure having the drill bit releaseably secured therein and a torque wrench applies torque to the bottomhole component to make up or break out the connection therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20050152772
Abstract: A pick-up and lay-down pipe handling system and method provides a telescopingly extendable pipe trough which is telescopingly extendable from a lift frame. The lift frame is preferably pivotally moveable with respect to a support. A tilting mechanism is operable for tilting the pipe trough to either lateral side for unloading and/or loading purposes. A lift frame with slidable powered lift heads is provided to raise and lower pipes from a pipe rack to the pipe trough. A pivotal guide member on the slidable powered lift head to pivot into a guiding position for guiding pipe from the lift frame onto the pipe trough.

  • Publication number: 20050081933
Abstract: A cylindrical ring sized to slide over the box end of an oilfield tubular having a given external diameter, has a shoulder at one its ends and a sidewall along its length. The sidewall has a circumferential groove about its interior surface housing a band which can be made tight against the exterior surface of the oilfield tubular by a latch, or other latch means accessible through a slot in the sidewall, and which becomes even tighter if the tubular attempts to escape from the band. In a first orientation, the cylindrical ring is used as a load ring. By turning the cylindrical ring upside down, the cylindrical ring is used as a thread protector for the pin end of the tubular.
