  • Patent number: 7165959
Abstract: An apparatus for casting a patterned surface on both sides of a web. The apparatus includes a first patterned roll; a second pattered roll; and a means for rotating the first and second patterned rolls such that their patterns are transferred to opposite sides of the web while it is in continuous motion. During this process, their patterns are maintained in continuous registration to within at least 100 microns, and preferably at least 20 microns.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2003
Date of Patent: January 23, 2007
    Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties Company
Inventors: Larry D. Humlicek, Daniel H. Carlson, James N. Dobbs, Samuel Hunter, legal representative, Thelma Hunter, legal representative, John T. Strand, Gregory F. King, David W. Kuhns, John S. Huizinga, William V. Dower, Thomas B. Hunter, deceased

  • Publication number: 20050052750
Abstract: A microreplicated article is disclosed. The article includes a web including first and second opposed surfaces. The first surface includes a first microreplicated structure having a plurality of first features. The second surface includes a second microreplicated structure having a plurality of second features. Corresponding opposed features cooperate to form a lens features.

  • Patent number: 6808291
Abstract: A hazard/safety warning device is disclosed which has a lamp member and a base, the lamp member being able to be used with and without the base. The base has a self-righting feature so that when the lamp is in the base, the lamp will rock to the vertical position. The lamp is activated by rotating a fresnel lens about its longitudinal axis relative to the body. A bonnet connection allows the lamp member to be attached to the base. The base is external ribs for stability of operation, and the body of the lamp has at least two handles. The filament of the globe is located at the optical centre of lens, with the lens being designed to have a generally vertical directed beam along the longitudinal axis, and an annular, transverse beam generally horizontal. The remainder of the lens provides a diffused light.

  • Patent number: 4182613
Abstract: Petroleum fuel compositions having a kinematic viscosity ranging from about 40 Saybolt Seconds Universal at 38.degree. C. to about 300 Saybolt Seconds Furol at 50.degree. C., e.g. residual fuel oils of grade numbers 4, 5 and 6, which contain dispersed sedimentary asphaltic constituents are stabilized against sedimentation of said constituents by the addition of a minor but sediment-stabilizing proportion of an alkylaryl sulfonic acid having from about 10 to 70 carbons for example, C.sub.28 -C.sub.32 monoalkyl benzene sulfonic acid. The sediment-stabilizing property of the alkylaryl sulfonic acid is particularly useful for blends of distillate petroleum fractions and residua (includes reduced crude) wherein said blend contains from about 5 to about 15 weight percent of residua, based on the total weight of said blend.
