  • Patent number: 5460264
Abstract: A beverage package having a blow molded plastic container of a single resin that is filled with a beverage product and sealed. The sealed container is wrapped in an oxygen barrier film to prevent oxygen from contacting the container and permeating through the container wall and thereby spoiling the beverage. The wrap is separable from the container before the beverage is consumed resulting in two separate, single material components for easy recycling. The molded container includes an upright side wall having a recessed groove sized to receive and store a telescoping straw for use in drinking the contents of the container.

  • Patent number: 4126658
Abstract: An improved method of blow molding bottles of thermoplastic material wherein intermittent extrusion apparatus is employed to produce bottles with finished necks free of external blemishes, the method including the steps of intermittently extruding tubular parisons from an annular orifice, enclosing the first tubular parison in a mold that has an interior cavity that defines the bottle and also defines a dome radiating outward from the upper end of the bottle neck, immediately blowing the parison essentially to the shape of the cavity, but as an incident to the blowing of the parison and to the interruption of the extrusion, causing the thermoplastic material to be severed at the extrusion orifice, and immediately shifting the mold enclosed article to a shaping station while the article is still at a temperature sufficient for subsequent shaping operations, and at the shaping station finish blowing the article while trimming and at least partially compression-molding the neck.

  • Patent number: 4007243
Abstract: An improved method of blow molding thermoplastic articles of superior physical properties by orienting the material during the formation of the articles. A two-stage blowing operation is provided wherein a tubular parison is extruded at a preblowing station spaced from a separate final blowing station and simultaneously a previously blown preform is supported on a blow pin at the final blowing station. A preform blow mold is closed on the tubular parison while a final blow mold is closed on the previously blown preform and the enclosed tubular parison and preform are blown to the shapes of the enclosing molds. The blow pin is then retracted from the final blow mold, and the molds are shifted so that the preform blow mold is at the final blowing station, and the final blow mold is at a discharge station. The blow pin is then inserted into the mold at the final blowing station so that the preform in the mold will be supported on the blow pin.
