  • Patent number: 4015316
Abstract: A combination tension and slub catching device wherein there are relatively fixed and movable members disposed in confronting relation to each other which define a narrow yarn passage, one of which is comprised of a plurality of narrow bars disposed transversely of the path of movement of the yarn and which are individually yieldable as an enlargement passes through the yarn passage and the other which is a rigid bar disposed longitudinally of the path of movement of the yarn, and wherein there is linkage which supports the rigid bar for movement rectilinearly relative to the narrow bars to vary the width of the yarn passage and a device responsive to changes in tension in the yarn connected to the linkage for adjusting the width of the yarn passage with changes in the tension of the yarn.

  • Patent number: 3948453
Abstract: In a machine for winding yarn to form a package, a winding drum supported in engagement with the package for traversing yarn from end-to-end as it is wound, a drum wheel for effecting rotation of the drum, a traction roll and brake shoe supported for movement relative to the drum wheel, on the one hand to engage the traction roll with the drum wheel and simultaneously disengage the brake shoe therefrom and, on the other hand, to disengage the traction roll from the drum wheel and engage the brake shoe therewith, a drive shaft for driving the traction wheel constantly, and mechanism for intermittently oscillating the traction roll and brake shoe relative to the drum wheel while maintaining engagement of the traction roll in driving engagement with the means for driving the traction roll.

  • Patent number: 3930291
Abstract: A combination slub catcher and tension control apparatus for use in the processing of yarn wherein a plurality of narrow parallel blades are supported at one side transversely to the path of travel of the yarn and a single rigid bar supported at the other side longitudinally of the path of the yarn. The confronting surfaces of the transversely and longitudinally supported blades and the bar define a narrow yarn passage. The transversely supported blades are supported in a holder in which they are individually yieldable to the passage of enlargements in the yarn and the longitudinally supported bar is supported on an eccentric for pivotal movement about an axis parallel to the transverse blades and for adjustment toward or from the transverse blades to adjust the width of the yarn passage. A tension lever is mounted on the upper end of the bar above the pivot axis for biasing the bar relative to the blades.
