Abstract: Articles of footwear for sustainable systems are disclosed herein. A modular article of footwear includes a knitted upper component and a midsole component that are removably secured together. Some aspects further includes an exterior sole component that is removably secured to the midsole component and the knitted upper component.

Abstract: Aspects herein are directed to a knitted component and articles of footwear that incorporate the same having cushioning structures, window openings, and/or tensile elements. In some aspects, the cushioning structures are positioned on an interior surface of an upper in order to protect a wearer's foot. The cushioning structures can be formed of single-jersey constructions, which cause the cushioning structures to curl, enhancing their cushioning properties. Window openings can be formed in the upper (e.g., using activatable yarns) in order to provide visual indications of the cushioning structures and/or serve as anchor points for tensile elements, which can provide structure to a lacing system.

Abstract: A knitted component including a first knit layer of a first yarn and a second knit layer of a second yarn. The second knit layer and the first knit layer are at least partially coextensive with each other and form a pocket between the first and second knit layers. A third yarn is at least partially positioned within the pocket and between the first and second knit layer. The third yarn includes first and second strands having at least one different property. The third yarn is secured to the first knit layer at a first location within the pocket and to the second knit layer at a second location within the pocket, and forms an x-shape configuration.
