  • Publication number: 20140277208
Abstract: A laser device having a proximal end and a distal end spaced from the proximal end, the distal end configured to receive a fixation member to be affixed to a target surgical site. The laser device includes a laser source supported by the laser device body and capable of emitting a laser beam to the distal end, wherein the laser source is responsive to at least one input so as to selectively switch between an inactive configuration whereby the laser source does not emit the laser beam, and an active configuration whereby the laser source emits the laser beam.

  • Patent number: 8795277
Abstract: A bone reconstruction device (100, 200, 300) is provided that includes an elongated linkage (102, 202, 302) having a plurality of links (104, 204, 304). The reconstruction device further includes an adjustment assembly (120, 220, 320) that provides for adjustment of the directional and/or angular orientation of the links. The reconstruction device further includes a locking assembly (122, 222, 322) that is movable between a disengaged configuration and an engaged configuration. In the disengaged configuration, the adjustment assembly can be actuated to adjust the orientation of the links. In the engaged confirmation, the locking assembly inhibits adjustment of the orientation of the links.

  • Publication number: 20130072876
Abstract: A catheter guiding device includes a bolt including a shaft configured to be inserted within a hole drilled in a bone and a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough along a bolt axis and a guide member received within the passageway of the bolt and extending longitudinally along a guide axis. The guide member includes a guide channel extending therethrough along the guide axis, wherein, in a first configuration, the guide member is arrangeable to a desired position relative to the bolt to align the guide axis with a target area and, in a second configuration, the guide member is fixed in the desired position relative to the bolt such that the guide axis is at a desired angle relative to the bolt axis within a permitted range of angulations.

  • Publication number: 20110172721
Abstract: Reduced height and zero-profile implants, such as bone plates, are provided that take advantage of improved bone resurfacing instrument technology to form precisely resurfaced implant-receiving beds in cortical bone, such as across a fracture or bone portion in need of repair, to accommodate the implants. The implants are provided in forms that do not necessitate the inclusion of bone screws while providing increased implant-repulsion resistance. The implants may be sized and configured to receive anchoring pins, preferably anchoring pins having non-circular cross-sectional shafts that further increase implant-repulsion resistance.

  • Publication number: 20110152946
Abstract: A system for achieving maxillo-mandibular fixation includes a bone fixation device including a bone fixation body formed from a plurality of links. The links define corresponding crests and valleys so as to impart flexibility into the bone fixation body. Thus, the bone fixation body can be aligned with the dental arch of the mandible and maxilla as necessary, and subsequently fastened to the underlying bone. Each bone fixation device includes at least one securement location on the fixation body that can attach to a securement device, such that the securement device fixes or stabilizes the mandible and the maxilla with respect to each other.

  • Publication number: 20110046682
Abstract: Expandable fixation assemblies, expandable cranial fixation assemblies, and expandable intervertebral implant assemblies are provided for securing structures to bone and for securing bones and/or bone segments with respect to each other. An expansion member can be moved through at least a portion of an expandable fixation body, thereby causing expansion of the expandable fixation body, such that bone engagement features of the expandable fixation body engage surrounding structure, such as bone.
